Love the partnerships we have within our running community so that we can continue to get stronger and support one another!

Team run followed by refueling and recovery session with along with lots of team bonding time.

Thanks for the great care that both Dr. Crystal Myer () and Dr. Beth Hardin not only provided to our athletes today, but throughout their training. They are both truly wonderful people and incredible Physical Therapists with the time, care, and follow up that they provide for each athlete!

We are so excited to welcome Amy Overman to Meaningful Movement. With 20+ years of experience across orthopedic and trauma rehab, Amy blends clinical expertise with deep empathy—especially when guiding others through injury recovery. Her personal journey with hip surgery led her to Pilates-based rehab, now a powerful part of her movement-focused care. She has a particular passion for treating orthopedic injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal conditions.

Fun Facts about Amy:

🔧 She’s a true DIY powerhouse—she’s repaired everything from dryers to scooters and even tiled her own laundry room. If it can be fixed, she’s probably already on it!
🎢 An adventure-lover at heart, she still swings into the Waccamaw River like she did in high school and never backs down from a ropes course or wild roller coaster.
🧘‍♀️ A devoted hot yoga fan, she brings the strength, balance, and breathwork from her practice into her PT sessions, helping patients build both resilience and body awareness.

We can’t wait for you to move with her!

Over 50% of women experience urinary incontinence or leaking when exercising and unfortunately some limit or stop moving altogether. We don’t want that to be you and that doesn’t have to be you!

🏃‍♀️Runners check out a few tips and techniques that may help you stay dry when moving!
✨Increase your number of steps per minute (cadence) through a shortened stride length
✨Try “quiet running” which facilitates a forefoot strike. If you are a treadmill runner use a decibel app on your phone and try to lower your reading while running
✨Posture shifts - keep a tall and long posture with ribs stacked over pelvis but add a slight forward lean

As always a physical therapy assessment is highly recommended to determine what your body specifically needs and what tips are most appropriate for you! Check out our pelvic or runner assessment if this sounds like something you may benefit from.

Tis’ the season! Goals can be centered on creating or changing habits or finite achievement. Goals can be simple or multi-step, they can be physical, spiritual, intellectual, occupational, social, and beyond. I love a good goal. When defining them, we get to pause and reflect on what impact we want to have, what values we want to share, who we want to present ourselves as. They give us purpose and intention.

In physical therapy we help you define your movement goals, create a plan, and then achieve your goals as a team through education, coaching, hands on treatment, and providing the tools you need. As we move into the season of goal setting, I thought I would share some guidelines that we use when developing our clients goals. These can help shape any type of goal. Check out our blog for more deets: https://www.meaningfulmovementpt.com/blog/goals

Achieving goals is a dynamic process. There are no failures only opportunities for learning and growth. If at first you don’t succeed reevaluate, re-approach, and as Aaliyah sings “dust yourself off and try again!”
