Our nervous systems constantly scan for safety. When stress, uncertainty, or overwhelm is ongoing, the body may shift into fight, flight, freeze, or shutdown - not because something is wrong, but because something is a lot.

These states are not signs of weakness or failure. They are adaptive responses meant to protect you. Awareness is often the first step toward regulation - not pushing yourself to feel different, but understanding why you feel the way you do.

We’re inviting moms of little ones to gather at Intown Golf Club in SouthPark on the morning of Thursday, January 15th for a casual, welcoming conversation led by Maggie, Amanda, and Britt.

This will be a supportive space to share experiences, ask questions, and gain insight into navigating the developmental roller coaster of raising kids under 10 - no pressure, no judgment, no “right way.”

We often carry quiet expectations about how moments should feel - especially during meaningful or high-pressure seasons. When reality doesn’t match the picture in our head, it can bring disappointment, guilt, or self-judgment.

Here’s the reframe: discomfort doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. It often means you’re human, navigating real relationships, real emotions, and real limits.

Making space for reality - rather than fighting it - can reduce stress and soften the experience. You’re allowed to feel joy and exhaustion, gratitude and grief, connection and the need for boundaries.

Let go of the perfect version. Make room for what’s real ☀️

Assertive communication is a balanced communication style where you express your needs, wants, and feelings clearly - while also considering the needs and rights of others.

Ways to be assertive:
- Express clear needs & wants
- Use a calm, steady tone
- Maintain confident body language
- Listen without interrupting

Assertiveness isn’t about being loud or demanding - it’s about being respectful, direct, and honest.

A helpful starting point:
🗣️ “I feel ___ when ___. I need ___.”

Learning to communicate assertively can reduce resentment, support healthier boundaries, and strengthen relationships - at work, at home, and within yourself.

Assertiveness is a skill. With practice, it becomes more natural and empowering ☀️

The Three Box Method is a simple way to sort what’s yours to carry and what you can release. It’s a tool we can use to support emotional regulation, boundary setting, and stress reduction.

🟦 What I Can Control: Your Inner World
The things fully within your hands: your reactions, effort, attitude, self-talk, and daily choices.
Examples: How you respond to a rude comment, choosing rest, learning a new skill, managing your time.
Action: Take direct action here - this is your power zone.

🟩 What I Can Influence: The “Maybe” Zone
Situations where your voice matters, but outcomes aren’t guaranteed.
Examples: Collaborating on a project, giving advice, negotiating, explaining your perspective.
Action: Engage with intention, but manage expectations. You’re aiming to shift, not control.

🟨 What I Must Accept: The “Let Go” Zone
Things outside your influence: other people’s choices, the past, natural circumstances, bigger systems.
Examples: The weather, a partner’s decision, a past mistake, a company policy.
Action: Practice acceptance and release. Fighting these drains energy; letting go restores it.

A gentle reminder: you don’t have to hold everything. Clarity creates room for peace ☀️
