What happens when 2025 isn’t starting how you hoped? Let’s place a little focus on understanding the Stages of Grief.
Not every year begins the way we envision, and that can bring feelings of disappointment, frustration, or even grief. If you’re feeling this way, you’re not alone. Let’s talk about the Stages of Grief and how they can apply to unmet expectations:
1. Denial – “This can’t be how my year is starting.”
You might feel shocked or stuck, refusing to accept things as they are. Give yourself time to process and adjust.
2. Anger – “Why is this happening to me?”
Frustration can bubble up as you think about what should have been. It’s okay to feel this way—acknowledge your emotions without judgment.
3. Bargaining – “Maybe if I do this, things will change…”
You may find yourself negotiating with reality, trying to regain control. Remember, it’s okay to feel uncertain, but don’t stay stuck here.
4. Depression – “Nothing is going right.”
Sadness or hopelessness might take over as you grieve the loss of what you envisioned. Be gentle with yourself—seek support when you need it.
5. Acceptance – “It’s not what I wanted, but I can still move forward.”
Acceptance doesn’t mean you’re okay with everything, but it allows you to embrace what is and take steps to make the best of your situation.
💡 Grief isn’t linear, and you might move back and forth between these stages. What’s important is giving yourself grace as you navigate your feelings and set intentions to move forward.
✨ Remember: A slow start doesn’t mean the year is ruined. It’s just the beginning, and there’s so much time for things to shift and align in your favor.
