MyoMovement Myth Busting part 3 - Tonsil size is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to airway health, sleep quality, oral function, and overall development. We look at the full picture, breathing patterns, tongue posture, sleep symptoms, swallowing, speech, and more

Sometimes small tonsils can still cause significant symptoms, and sometimes large tonsils aren’t the main issue at all. That’s why individualized assessments matter!

At MyoMovement, we believe in getting to the root cause and helping our clients build healthy functional habits for long term success!

A 10mm increase in tongue range of motion — without a release.

Through bodywork and myofunctional therapy, this client made meaningful progress by addressing tension, compensation patterns, and function.

Every case is different, but this is why we look at the whole picture before jumping straight to a release. ✨

Bedwetting in kids and frequent nighttime bathroom trips in adults may be more connected to sleep and airway than most people realize.

When breathing is disrupted overnight, the body may not fully settle into deep, restorative sleep — and that can show up in unexpected ways. ✨

At MyoMovement, we work with kids and adults to support nasal breathing, tongue posture, lip seal, and healthier oral function — both in person and virtually.

Mouth breathing, snoring, restless sleep, bedwetting, or waking to use the bathroom at night? It may be worth taking a closer look.

At MyoMovement, we check for tongue ties because proper tongue mobility plays a huge role in how the body functions as a whole. A restricted tongue can create compensation patterns that affect everything from the way we breathe to the way we move.

Our goal is to look at the full picture, support proper function, and help our clients feel their best through movement-based care.

Tired of constantly reminding your kiddo: “Lips together!”?

The coin hold can be a helpful way to build awareness around lip seal by giving your child simple feedback — if the coin drops, their lips weren’t resting together. The key is making sure they’re using their lips, not their teeth, to hold it in place.

Sometimes, it’s not about reminding more… it’s about giving the body better feedback. 👏

Looking for myofunctional, speech, or feeding therapy? Meredith offers virtual services, and home visits may be available in the Raleigh/Cary area when appropriate.

We’re excited to gather again for our next Airway Circle — North Carolina Chapter meeting on June 10th.

These evenings are created for airway-focused providers who are passionate about learning, collaborating, and looking at patient care through a whole-person lens. From airway and sleep to oral function, growth and development, dentistry, ENT, bodywork, and beyond — the best conversations happen when multiple specialties are in the room.

We’re grateful to continue building this provider community and creating space for education, connection, and collaborative care.

If you’re part of the airway-focused provider community, we’d love to have you join us. This is a provider-only gathering, and RSVP is required to attend.

May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, and we’re celebrating two of our amazing SLPs — Whitney and Meredith. 🤍

We asked them why they love being speech-language pathologists, and their answers are such a sweet reminder of the heart behind this work.

Speech therapy is so much more than “working on sounds” — it’s confidence, connection, communication, and helping each child feel more successful in their everyday life.

At MyoMovement, our SLPs also bring a unique understanding of oral function, myofunctional therapy, and the way the mouth, muscles, and airway can all play a role in communication.

Have questions about speech therapy, feeding therapy, or myofunctional therapy? Send us a message — we’d be happy to help point you in the right direction.
