Discs are located between the bones of the spine & function as shock absorbers for the weight of the head. They are sorta like a jelly-filled donut 🍩, with a thicker, denser outer layer & a soft jelly center.

For the disc to be healthy, the jelly needs to stay contained inside the 'donut' as this helps bear the load of the head in everyday tasks and more intense movements when healthy.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
When these discs wear out from overuse -- the jelly dries up or moves outside the wall so the donut -- the disc becomes weaker and causes pain😫
It can create symptoms that just feel like muscle pain that travel to different areas of the body or cause more abrupt symptoms like sharp and stabbing or even start to affect the nerves in the arm creating numbness, tingling, and burning.
⁣⁣
The latter 2 symptoms are scary and people typically seek out help but the referred pain can go on for some time without a proper evaluation and knowing what is going on. If you have any of the above symptoms, our treatments can help decrease the pressure on the unhealthy discs which creates less severe, less frequent symptoms so you can get back to living, without having to resort to surgery, pain pills or injections.
⁣⁣
Please reach out if you have any questions or need help and we would be happy to offer a no-charge consultation to see if we will be able to help give you pain relief from disc injuries!

What is Sciatica?

Sciatica is a condition that results when the sciatic nerve—which runs from the lower back through the buttocks and down the legs—is compressed or irritated. This can cause low back pain, hip pain, and leg pain (often described as shooting, burning, or tingling). In some cases, the pain may be severe enough to make it difficult to walk or stand. Sciatica can be caused by a number of different things, including bulging/herniated discs, spinal stenosis, pregnancy, nerve entrapment and degenerative disc disease.

Sciatica is one of the most common conditions that we successfully treat at Resolve Soft tissue & Spine. If are suffering from sciatica DM us today👍👍

One potential cause of back pain that you may not be familiar with is cluneal nerve entrapment. In this condition, the cluneal nerves—which are located in the upper buttocks—become compressed or trapped. This can lead to a variety of symptoms, including numbness, tingling, and burning sensations in the buttocks and even pain in the lower back regions.

At Resolve Soft Tissue & Spine we use Instrument Adhesion Release® and Shockwave Therapy to treat this condition.

If you suffer from chronic pain, you’re not alone. In fact, you’re part of a growing population of people who experience long-term pain on a daily basis. While there are many potential causes of chronic pain, one of the most common—and often overlooked—causes is soft tissue adhesion.

Look familiar?

The majority of the population is constantly looking down at their phone for several hours per day. This increased load over time can lead to neck pain, shoulder pain, and upper back pain.

Always be mindful of your head position whether it’s scrolling through your phone, sitting down to read a book or checking emails at your desk.

Try to maintain the phone at your chest, chin or eye level to minimize the bend in your neck and to maintain optimal posture. If your phone is below eye level, look down with your eyes rather than your neck.

The supraspinous ligament runs along the vertebrae up the entire lumbar and thoracic spinal column.

Adhesion in this ligament can cause lower back pain, limit range of motion and increase the pressure on the discs of the spine.

Sciatica, often referred to as "piriformis syndrome," is one of the most common conditions we treat. Sciatica pain is typically felt like a constant burning sensation or a shooting pain starting in the lower back or buttock and radiating down the front or back of the thigh and leg and/or feet. The most common place for the sciatic nerve to become trapped is in the deep gluteal muscles. Here is a video of how we fix piriformis syndrome in our office.

The straight leg raise test....

You should be able to flex your hips to 90 degrees with a straight knee. The straight leg raise primarily challenges two tissues: 1. Sciatic Nerve and 2. Hamstring. Adhesion along either or both of the structures can limit this motion and put additional strain on surrounding areas.
