Golfers will argue about putters, drivers, tee boxes, pace of play, music on the course…

But let’s talk about something that actually changes the way a course plays:

Grass type.

Bermuda, bentgrass, zoysia, fescue, rye, bluegrass… every region has its own personality.

As a Charlotte golfer, Bermuda is basically part of the deal. Fast, firm, grainy, and humbling around the greens.

Some people say they want to “grow the game” until growing the game means making space for people who don’t fit the version of golf they grew up with.

Different backgrounds. Different beliefs. Different lifestyles. Different stories.

That should not be a threat to golf.
That should be the future of it.

I don’t care if we vote the same, dress the same, pray the same, or see the world the same way.

If you respect the game and respect the people around you, there’s room for you.

Golf does not need more gatekeeping.
It needs more people willing to make someone new feel like they belong.
