NC MedAssist NC MedAssist is a statewide nonprofit pharmacy providing prescription medicine to uninsured, low-income residents at no cost. FOOD OR MEDICINE??

Through our Free Pharmacy Program, OTC Free Store, and Mobile Free Pharmacy events, we are dispensing hope across NC. That is the stark choice that faces more and more members of our own community. As costs of prescription drugs continue to rise and the numbers of uninsured reach all time highs, providing a no cost source for life-saving prescription drugs becomes critical. NC MedAssist exists to provide free medications to the uninsured by qualifying patients for patient assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical companies and dispensing them directly to patients. Over the past 12 years, NC MedAssist has dispensed over $30 million in free prescription medicines to over 15,000 low-income residents. In Mecklenburg County, NC MedAssist serves as a Community Pharmacy dispensing free prescription medication to our neighbors who are uninsured. Residents of the county can qualify for our services if they are at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. At our two locations in Charlotte, we do not have doctors on staff so you must have a prescription slip written by a doctor to apply. If you believe that you may be eligible for help with your prescription medication, please call us at 704-536-1790. We can screen you on the phone to let you know how we may be able to assist you. We also serve as the Central Fill Pharmacy for North Carolina's Free Clinics. Patients access our services through the physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners that serve these clinics across the state.

Together, we raised more than $310,000 to support our work and the patients we serve across North Carolina.

The longstanding partnership of Novant Health and Atrium Health extends well beyond this annual event. Through volunteerism, Mobile Free Pharmacy event sponsorship, and collaboration that brings essential health services directly into under-resourced communities, their support strengthens our ability to extend our impact to those who need it most.

We’re excited to welcome back the Atrium Health Women's Care Mobile Unit to the NC MedAssist OTC Free Store!

To align with our new store operating hours, the mobile unit will be on-site every fourth Thursday of the month. Atrium's Drive to Thrive is ready provides adolescent and adult women ages 13 and older with a range of free and confidential services.

WHERE: 4428 Taggart Creek Road, Suite 101, Charlotte, NC

WHEN: Thursday, February 26 | 9AM - 3:30PM

Available services include:

- Women’s wellness exams
- Breast exams
- Pap smears
- STI testing and treatment
- Pregnancy testing
- Birth control and family planning counseling
- Health education and community resourc
Patients over 13 years old, with or without insurance, are welcome.
Walk-ins welcome, but appointments recommended. Please call 704-468-0137 to schedule an appointment. Bilingual staff are available for Spanish-speaking patients.

Financial assistance applications are available. Receive a 100% discount if your income is at or below 300% of the federal poverty level. Those with incomes above 300% of poverty, but at or below 400% of poverty, will qualify for a partial discount.
