This point’s name refers to the 3 “Yin” meridians that intersect at this point on the lower leg. That makes it a great point to stimulate and fortify the Yin of the body which is the feminine energy. The yin is important for proper function and maintenance of bodily fluids including hydration, cervical mucus, and menstrual blood.

How to find it:
Place 4 fingers right above your inner ankle. It’s right on top of that in the depression on the border of the tibia bone. It may even be slightly tender to the touch. You can stimulate it with acupressure for 1-2 minutes on both sides for some at-home energy balancing.

Eating FAT is vital for fertility. This is because the "Good" fats support proper hormone secretion. For instance, leptin is a hormone that’s made in the fat cells, and it suppresses hunger by sending a signal to the brain that we have enough energy storage and don’t need to eat.
Leptin, through an indirect process stimulates Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) production from the hypothalamus, the command center. It starts the chain reaction for ovulation each month. Studies have found that in women who have a low body fat percentage, the level of leptin is lower, therefore it can impact the production of GnRH and cause the period to stop altogether.

Fats cells produce estrogen as well which helps to mature the egg for ovulation every month, without it, ovulation doesn’t happen.

These hormones affect the level of other hormones involved in reproductive function making fat a necessary part of a fertile cycle.

However, all fats aren’t created equal. We want to avoid highly processed fats like canola oil, safflower oil, and vegetable oil (they are not made from vegetables). Incorporate healthy fats like avocado, olive oil, coconut oil, nuts & seeds, wild caught fatty fish, whole eggs and grass–fed butter or ghee.

A little with each meal will enhance overall fertility and keep you satiated!

To Chart or not to Chart? That is the question…

BBT charts are not for the faint of heart. They can be confusing, time consuming and frustrating. Unless they’re done almost perfectly, it may not be worth it.

That’s not to discourage you if you’re willing to commit to this amazing tool. When done properly, it can tell us so much more than just when to expect ovulation. It can indicate root causes that may be holding you back, such as multiple LH surges or PCOS that were previously unknown.

It may be beneficial for those with…
• Irregular periods
• Long cycles (40-60 days)
• Mid-cycle spotting
• Missed periods
• PCOS
• Thyroid issues
• Unexplained infertility

It may not be worth it if…
• You’re unable to take your temperature at the same time every morning.

We often tell our patients to avoid cold raw foods when TTC. This can come as a surprise because of all the nutritional hype about smoothies, raw foods and juicing. How could these “superfoods” possibly interfere with fertility??

When you’re preparing your body to be someone’s home for the next 9 months, you want it to be as warm and cozy as possible. This may sound a little woo-woo to some, but there’s cold hard reasoning behind it ;)

The uterus can be negatively affected if it gets too cold. A lack of blood flow can develop leading to unsupportive uterine lining along with other reproductive inhibitions. In fact, there’s even a traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis called “cold uterus” and we see it all the time.
Your body uses up a lot of energy to heat up and break down cold, raw foods. Warm, cooked foods take up less energy and enter the digestive tract at a more readily absorbable stage. The less energy your body has to spend on digestion, the more it has to focus on background chores like reproductive function.
