"I am a neonatal nurse and have been one for 41 years. I take care of babies born as young as 22 weeks gestational age and 15 ounces to full term newborns. I have administered many transfusions of PRBCs, platelets and fresh frozen plasma. These products have been lifesaving. Some babies, in particular growing premies, need a boost in their blood count and will receive a transfusion."
