Planning summer outings?

Visiting busy places during off-peak hours can create a more sensory-friendly and enjoyable experience for children and families living with autism. Fewer crowds, less noise, and shorter wait times can help reduce stress and overwhelm.

Try visiting during quieter times:
🛒 Grocery stores early in the morning
🌳 Parks before peak afternoon hours
🖼️ Museums on weekdays
🍽️ Restaurants during non-rush hours

A little planning can make community outings feel more comfortable, successful, and fun for the whole family. 🌟

The joy of living with autism deserves just as much attention as the struggle.

The world spends a lot of time focusing on the challenges. But there is also deep joy in favorite interests, routines, creativity, music, humor, movement, connection, and seeing the world in beautifully unique ways.

This week, we’d love to celebrate that joy.

Share something your child, teen, or loved one with autism genuinely lights up about. A favorite activity, place, song, hobby, or moment. We want to hear it. 💙

Don’t force eye contact.

At Autism Charlotte, we build our programs around small, thoughtful accommodations that help our students feel safe, respected, and able to fully participate.

Looking away doesn’t mean someone isn’t listening.

Sometimes it’s exactly how they are able to listen.

When we remove that pressure, we create space for comfort, confidence, and connection.

Small change. Big inclusion.

Autism advocate Temple Grandin said that individuals with autism are “different, not less.” 💙

At Autism Charlotte, we see that truth lived out every day. Each child brings unique strengths, perspectives, and potential that deserve to be supported and celebrated.

Through our preschool, afterschool, social groups, and summer camp programs, we create opportunities for children with autism to build confidence, form connections, and thrive in their own way.

Let’s continue to build a community that values differences and recognizes the abilities in everyone.
