As part of Counseling Awareness Month, we’re proud to Spotlight Hazel Parker, a dedicated intern who is currently completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Hazel is serving as an FCT Intern in our Greensboro office, where she has been working diligently to support the children and families we serve.
Hazel’s commitment goes beyond her direct work with clients. She is deeply passionate about supporting her peers and fostering a sense of community among fellow interns. She took the initiative to create an Internship Peer Support Group, providing a space for SPARC interns to come together and engage in meaningful conversations around burnout, vicarious trauma, stress, coping skills, self-care, ethics, and more.
This group has quickly become a valued resource, with interns sharing how much they look forward to each session. Many have even stepped into facilitation roles, leading discussions on topics that matter most to them—further strengthening connection and professional growth across the team.
Hazel’s compassion and dedication to both her clients and peers truly embody the spirit of service and collaboration. We are grateful for the impact she is making! 💙
