Nayaswami Pranaba is one of Ananda's most widely traveled and experienced ministers, having meditated for over 48 years and offering classes and workshops in meditation and yoga for the past 43 years. He has helped to create and direct Ananda Centers in Palo Alto, Portland, Seattle, Dallas, and Assisi, Italy. Pranaba has been Director of the Ananda Yoga Teacher Training program, and Manager of The Expanding Light Retreat in California, as well as Ananda's Retreat in Assisi, Italy. He has directed the Living Discipleship Course, Ananda's membership training program, and now works with Ananda's outreach ministry.

Lessons in Meditation
Tuesday evenings, 7:30pm-9:00pm
January 11 and January 18, 2022

This 2 week series provides in-depth instruction in scientific meditation techniques that bring more peace, deeper relaxation, and focused concentration to every area of your life. Whether you are a beginner or already have a meditation practice established, this program will enhance your ability to access inner peace, calmness and joy regardless of outer conditions. There are many benefits of a consistent meditation practice, including reduced stress and anxiety, improved health, greater intuition, compassion, awareness, and focus.

In this two week series, you will learn the Hong Sau technique of meditation. Hong Sau is designed to increase powers of concentration and introspection while helping to still the mind and calm the heart. The course also offers many tips on how to meditate effectively, establish a daily meditation routine, and how to integrate the benefits of meditation into daily life.

Lessons in Meditation is step one on the Path of Kriya Yoga. There are four steps leading to Kriya Yoga initiation. Kriya Yoga became widely known through Paramhansa Yogananda’s spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi. It is a spiritual path that includes advanced meditation techniques that quickly accelerate one’s spiritual growth. Kriya Yoga works by giving the practitioner pranayama, or control of the life force. Through life force control, the yogi is able to overcome all of the obstacles preventing union with the Divine.

Paramhansa Yogananda taught Kriya Yoga as part of a spiritual path that includes other yoga practices. The Kriya technique itself is given after about one year of study and practice of the other techniques that are part of the Path of Kriya Yoga. Ananda Michigan offers Kriya Yoga initiation once a year in the fall. In preparation for taking the initiation, one must complete four levels of classes starting with Lessons in Meditation.

These classes are offered in person at the Still Butterfly Yoga Studio, 344 N. Cochran Ave, Charlotte, MI 48813 and on Zoom.

The cost for this course is $20. Payment is due before the first class on January 11, 2022. Payments can be made via PayPal through mike@limauro.com, or by Square in person or on our website. Please provide your email address with your payment, so that Mike can send you the handout for the first class and the Zoom link if you will not be attending in person.
