Hoping to spend the holiday season improving your relationship with your inner self? There are a few self-gratitude practices that I recommend and even enjoy myself:
- Keep a daily gratitude journal
- Try meditation or mindfulness exercises
- Embrace compliments from others rather than denying or deflecting them
- Say the things you’re grateful for about yourself out loud

On small pieces of paper, write down things you like about yourself and keep them in a jar

Expressing self-gratitude does not automatically make you vain or narcissistic. On the same note, when we show appreciation for ourselves, we should still acknowledge our mistakes and shortcomings. There must be a balance between sincere self-praise and understanding that you are not perfect, but human. It is absolutely possible to feel positive about your authentic self while maintaining humility.

Have you ever stopped to think about what frustrates you? Have you ever considered WHY those things frustrate you? Spending time with those feelings can feel uncomfortable and maybe even stressful. But confronting them directly is what can help remove or reduce the negative feelings we have toward them.

Try taking some time today to write down your frustrations and how you react to them. Don’t be afraid to question why they make you feel the way you do.

The colder months can be a bit difficult for some. Less sunlight can mean a reduction in serotonin. Fall and Winter are often the onset seasons for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

I want to remind you that you have the strength to get through your lows. Taking the time to explore and question those protective and wounded parts of your inner self can make the ultimate difference.
