Joe began his career with PNC Bank in Pittsburgh, PA, where he lived through the age of 34 before moving to the Charlotte, NC area, and remained at the bank for ten years while attending graduate school and law school, both through evening programs. Beginning as a management trainee, he developed intensive experience in consumer and commercial lending, spending eight of the ten years at the bank either running branch offices or lending to middle market companies. In his final two years, he was promoted to U.S. Eastern Regional Executive, where he managed an 18 state region from the Mississippi to the Eastern Seaboard. While traveling to his offices in Raleigh and Greenville, SC, he saw the growth and potential in the Southeast, and after having considered Greenville, Atlanta, Raleigh, and Charlotte, kept coming back to Charlotte as the overall favorite.

After relocating his family to the area, he worked in bank consulting for Bank of America, Wachovia, Capital One, First Union and others on a variety of projects, and as a commercial banker again for a short stint while studying for the NC Bar and taking some time to recover from all the work, travel, law school, and raising a young family.

Joe routinely speaks to groups of CEO’s, CFO’s, Attorneys and CPA’s on financial statement analysis, and is sought after for speaking engagements on financial analysis for closely held companies, wealth transfer, and related matters. During his tenure as a commercial banker, he received the Certified Commercial Lender designation (CCL), which required demonstration of mastery of a variety of commercial loan, leasing, factoring, and asset based lending topics. Joe has also taught at Queen’s University in Charlotte at the university’s Certified Financial Planner program (CFP) for a new “capstone course” during the first semester it was offered to help the students combine what they had learned about portfolio management, stock analysis, tax, credit, and financial theories to assist students on a “case study” basis in developing comprehensive financial plans utilizing their newly gained knowledge.

He currently resides in Waxhaw, NC with his family in an equestrian neighborhood, and regularly sees clients and friends in his home in the evenings or weekends when they need an objective opinion and some solid advice.

Jeanne Ann Pennebaker has extensive litigation, transactional, and court expertise. This expertise encompasses over 27 years of practice in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer and small business Bankruptcy, as well as Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Ms. Pennebaker has additional practices in Foreclosure Defense and IRS Consumer Tax Defense. From 2009 to 2017 Ms. Pennebaker has held the position of senior attorney at RTS Law Group in Charlotte, NC.

Ms. Pennebaker solely established, staffed, and managed a lucrative law practice in Chicago, Illinois. In her practice, she represented numerous Bankruptcy clients and additionally argued various adversary proceedings, made regular appearances on creditor matters, defended foreclosures, negotiated IRS settlements, and represented clients in traffic court. Prior to that, she practiced for two years with Robert J. Adams & Associates in the areas of bankruptcy, family law, and class action law in fair debt collections act violations. Next, she practiced for five years with Zalutsky & Pinski, a prominent consumer bankruptcy law firm, with her specialization in Chapter 13.

Ms. Pennebaker was born and raised in Chicago which means she loves the blues, deep dish pizza, and Da Cubs and Da Bears and Da Blackhawks. 2016 was the amazing year that the Chicago Cubs finally won a World Series for the first time since 1908! Go Cubs Go! She attended college at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and earned a law degree at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago. During her second year of law school, she attended an exchange program at the Concannon Program of International Law with Notre Dame in London, U.K. Ms. Pennebaker participated in Moot Court, notably being a team captain in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition.

While in Charlotte, Ms. Pennebaker has been recognized as Legal Elite by North Carolina Magazine for 2016 and 2017. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Mecklenburg County Bar Association. She serves on the Mecklenburg County Bar’s committee for the Lawyer Referral Service. Ms. Pennebaker has attended and graduated from the prominent O. Max Gardner’s Bankruptcy Boot Camp. Ms. Pennebaker has a loving family that includes her 21 year old daughter and her 18 year old son.
