For anyone in the contemplation stage of gardening - I highly recommend an easy entry with a small hydroponic system. Clean, mostly automated, highly rewarding!!!! If you love fresh herbs but don’t love the grocery store prices this is a great way to have homegrown herbs at your fingertips.

Are you looking for an amazing part-time summer work opportunity? GTG is looking for outdoor educators to work with children this summer. Ideal candidates will have experience working with preschool/elementary age children and have a love of nature. Must be able to lift 25 lbs and be outside in summer weather. Some important play happening here! I love seeing all of the littles excited to play in the raised beds that have become dedicated digging beds just for this purpose. This week we experimented with various digging tools as well as containers.
Fine motor. Gross motor. Healthy microbes. Vitamin D. Health and happiness!

Statement of Purpose
This position provides direct service to the clients in the form of horticulture groups and horticulture activities. The Horticulture Specialist reports directly to the Program Director.

Growth Through Gardening offers horticultural therapy programming that is tailored to meet our clients' needs. We design each garden and every experience based on the unique goals of our clients. We believe that everyone benefits from interaction with nature and that horticultural therapy can be used to meet goals that range from the most clinical to the most basic.

Responsibilities

Facilitate horticulture groups per the program schedule.
Complete any necessary documentation.
Collaborate with Program Director to design program activities and communicate horticulture activities the week prior for the following weeks' program directly to the Program Director.
Coordinate purchasing of horticulture supplies with the Program Director.

Qualifications
2+ years experience in the fields of horticulture or education preferred
Interest in or pursuit of the field of horticultural therapy
Experience in group planning and facilitation
Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers at all levels of the organization.
Consistently demonstrates respect for the cultural and lifestyle diversities of our clients and staff.
Flexibility for hours and types of assignments with cross-coverage, i.e., covering clients of other therapists who are not present at particular times.
Willing to work outside during all seasons.
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
