Founded on the belief that many institutionalized children could benefit greatly from highly skilled in-home nursing, Continuum Pediatric Nursing has been at the forefront of a nationwide movement which recognizes that for many young patients the nurturing support of family and familiar surroundings is not just a luxury, or
a cost-saving measure, but in fact is critical to their long-term emotional and physical well being. By caring for the first child in Northern Virginia to come home from the hospital on a ventilator, Continuum ultimately gained the expertise necessary to change the lives of hundreds of families in all the regions we service. Our vision, enabled by technological advances over the last two decades, now allows an increasing number of children who survive birth defects, or who have severe illnesses or syndromes, to move more quickly out of acute care settings or long term care facilities and into physician-directed nursing care in their own home surrounded by their family.
