Did you know we have a nationally award-winning program called the J.OY (Joining Older and Younger) Program? 🌟🎹 It was created to help build a bridge to foster intergenerational relationships between our Members and local organizations. 🤝 This week, we welcomed a local piano instructor, Marian Kornev, and her students for a recital in our living room last Saturday. 🎶 We had children ages four through 12 years playing both classical and contemporary pieces. 🎼✨ Our Members enjoyed the performances, and we loved seeing the children's smiling faces after all the applause. 😊👏

Calling those who have a sweet, sweet tooth, it's National Strawberries and Cream Day, and the perfect excuse to celebrate! 🍰🍓 We made our own strawberry shortcake with pound cake, fresh strawberries, and homemade whipped cream, then our Happy Hour featured made-to-order strawberry daiquiris. 🍓🍹 Yum! 😋 The dining team went above and beyond with these treats that tasted truly like summertime! ☀️

We held our first Veterans Coffee Club meeting this week, and it was a moving experience for those in attendance. 🇺🇸☕ A representative from the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs joined us to share information and resources available to our veterans. 🇺🇸🎖️ Each Member shared their branch of military, where they were stationed, and many shared stories of their time in the military. ❤️ We were lucky enough to have Aimee Simmons, our Vice President of Programming and Training, treat us to some patriotic sing-alongs to end our time together.

This national day serves as a reminder of the importance of staying active as we age 👟, a goal our Members embrace. The Weller Life provides that our Members have access to not just occasional wellness experiences, but a calendar filled daily with intentional classes and exciting opportunities to engage with their neighbors. 💙🤍💚
