That’s Mona “Lisa” Marie Simpson ~ our foster family friend on her first day at a lake in the water!
🐕
After living her whole life outside in horrific conditions with complete chaos and no care > she’s adapted quite well to life on the couch, taking walks, eating pup cups, and resting safely when she could never rest safely before!
🐕
is a most amazing rescue. If there’s anyway you can foster a dog > now is the time!
🐕
And if you’re ready to add another family member too!
🐕
if those don’t work, remember you can transport dogs for rescues and/or often walk dogs at your local animal shelter as well!
🐕
Every animal we help > whether domesticated or wild > is that starfish going back into the sea to save! Do you remember that story?
⭐️🌊

PS was saved by Chrissy who is a saint in the dog world to me!!

What you may not know about your mental health therapist…
🤔
To be a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Professional Counselor > you have to be credentialed. This means you have to take approved trainings to improve your skills and turn this in every 2 years.
📚
My life took a blessed turn when the difficult period of COVID began because in those difficult circumstances I found a new way to get my continuing ed credits. Somehow I learned about and began taking live trainings on Zoom with
🎨💃🏻
Cathy is so wise and revered in the Expressive Art Therapy world, and it has been such a blessing to meet her and learn from her. Also, there were other therapists and counselors from all over the world in the trainings. So > I might be in a breakout room discussing bilateral drawing with someone from Australia or a country in Europe or even an art therapist in a war zone helping kids.
🌎🌍🌏
I’ve always loved creative expression, but it was only in this difficult time and shift of the world that I began focusing on creativity-based and somatic approaches to supporting mental health.
🧠
Each time I face burn out > and there have been many > I re-evaluate what isn’t working and what I want more of!
🤔💡
Recently, I had been feeling a need to shift something again… Some people who work with me to support their mental health are therapists. Sometimes they ask questions about those who come to work with them in therapy…
💞
This led me to decide to get my counseling supervision license from UNC-Greensboro. I just found out this morning >>> my training is complete AND I’m on to get credentialed!!
💥🎉
Not sure what I’m doing next with this > but feel very good about it!
🤔💡
Part of the joy of “working” in mental health is that it’s my responsibility to keep showing up for my own mental health ->> so I can also help others!
💔❤️‍🩹❤️‍🔥

Thinking of Mom today on what would have been her 85th birthday!
🌼
Mom was the epitome of hospitality.
🥧
If you visited my Mom for a meal or a minute, she always wanted you to feel comfortable. Did you need a drink or a snack or even a meal? She epitomized helping any visitor “feel welcome” and would buzz around prepare whatever you desired.

My undergraduate degree was in agriculture > and I know firsthand how abusive the dairy industry is!
Recently, I’ve been sharing a lot about natural habitat destruction. And I care about animals > including those abused in factory farming is important too!

Last Saturday as I entered the store » something immediately captivating caught my eye 👁️ colorful looking stones sitting on a journal.
❤️🧡🩷💜🩵💙💚💛
I picked one up to realize - it was a version of a crayon.
🖍️
Well, this I had to have.
🤔
To compare these precious little balls of color to a crayon doesn’t seem fitting, because they have a deep waxy texture and rich color. But the box does say “Crayon Rocks.”
