P4 student Margaret Booth is attending her P4 rotation at CRCHC Pharmacy in concord ambulatory care!

When asked what her favorite thing about working there is, Margaret said: “My favorite thing is watching my interventions be made in effect first hand as I speak to providers!”

WUSOP student Manali Dhanak has been working at Moose Pharmacy for her summer P1 rotation!

When asked what her days look like at Moose, Manali said: “At moose pharmacy we are more patient focused as an independent pharmacy. At Moose pharmacy I work the workflow which consists of filling prescriptions, and even getting opportunity to counsel patients. We do vaccinations and do remote patient monitoring as well. I had the opportunity to participate in the health fair at a nursing home. We were conducting blood pressure checks and reviewing vaccination records. I love getting to connect with the patients and getting to do hands on activities such as checking pressure or doing vaccinations.“

⭐️New student spotlight!⭐️

Meet Ava Greene! Ava is from Monroe, NC and chose WUSOP because she felt so welcomed by the students and staff in the program. She states everyone is very supportive and willing to help out in any way they can.

Ava majored in chemistry and enjoyed it, but was still unsure of what to pursue. She discovered pharmacy and realized it was her missing piece.

Meet Madison Green from Myrtle Beach, SC! We’re excited to have you at WUSOP Madison!! Madison chose WUSOP as she knew about halfway through the interview that this was my dream school. She states “The people, the campus, the students solidified it for me. Once I received my acceptance, I cancelled every other interview I had. Wingate was the one for me!”

Madison chose pharmacy as she was already interested in chemistry and becoming a tech solidified her decision that pharmacy was where she wanted to be! Welcome Madison!

Meet Kate! Kate is from Charlotte, NC and has obtained her B.S. in Biology with a minor in medical sociology and social sciences from Wingate University!

Kate was a lab assistant for Microbiology and Biology 101 here at Wingate, and she is excited for skills lab because she loves to work hands on!

💊 Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Aaron Shaver class of 2016!

When a 150 year old pharmacy in Wadesboro NC was on the market Dr. Shaver stepped in not to just save a business, but to preserve a vital healthcare resource for the entire community. This community only has two pharmacy locations and Shaver was determined to ensure continued access to medications, counseling, and trusted care in a community where options are limited. Aaron completed a rotation at Parsons Drugs during his time at Wingate so this opportunity to become an owner was full circle! Shaver continues to be an accessible healthcare provider for his patients while maintaining a job he loves.

Congratulations to Dr. Brock Harris for receiving the Excellence in Research and Scholarship award! Dr. Harris has been with WUSOP since 2012 and has a research focus in pediatrics, women’s health, and learning outcomes.

WUSOP student Meghan Raynor has been working at Publix Pharmacy for her P1 summer rotation!

When asked about her favorite part of the rotation, Meghan said: “My favorite part about my rotation has been asking questions and getting advice from the pharmacists and pharmacy techcians. I have enjoyed learning from them and it has been very beneficial to me in regard to my future.“
