At All Ages Vision Care in Charlotte, NC, we are learning-related vision specialists. Our clinical director is Dr. Genia Beasley, OD, FAAO, FCOVD. Dr. Beasley is a frequent lecturer and consultant to educators, rehabilitation specialists, eye care professionals, parents, teachers and children on the national, regional and local level. Before becoming a leader in optometry and vision development, s

he played basketball professionally and internationally. Her prolific sports career includes All-American distinction in women's basketball at NC State University and many of her records set in 1980 still stand today. In 2007, she was elected to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed for select women athletes. Dr. Beasley's Education:

80% of learning is visually related. Please don’t assume that 20/20 at distance allows your child to be visually ready for near tasks. I see way too many that have maladaptive learning skills due to poorly developed visual perception skills that need to be in place by school age of 6-7!

As children progress throughout their education, they face increasing demands on their visual abilities. The size of print in textbooks becomes smaller and the amount of time spent reading and studying increases significantly. Increased workload and homework place significant demands on the child's....
