We are excited to Welcome Back our Sis as our New FT Clinical Supervisor!
Sis Tammie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate, and certified holistic coach. Tammie has 11 years of experience in the field of social work, mental/behavioral health, chronic illness (HIV), and substance abuse. Tammie has delivered services across settings, including schools, hospitals, residential, government, and outpatient. Tammie received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from New Jersey City University in Jersey City, New Jersey. She completed her Master’s degree in Social Work from Johnson C. Smith University, where she was also inducted into the Phi Alpha Honor Society. Tammie is currently a PIT (Professor in Training at Johnson C. Smith University.
Sis Tammie is a firm believer and passionate in not just individual healing but also healing through community, providing holistic care, and providing culturally responsive wellness support and education in black communities. Tammie works with children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
Her clinical experience includes assessments, group therapy, intake, crisis intervention, individual therapy, and family interventions. Tammie is known for her advocacy in black mental health and recently became involved as a volunteer with Shield NC in efforts to combat human trafficking. Tammie, since 2018, has organized and moderated The Annual Black Mental Health Symposium in partnership with Johnson C. Smith University.
It focused on disparities and their impact within the Black community, as well as the importance of Mental Health and wellness in efforts to end stigma. Known for her calm persona, empathy, and care for others, she is a New Jersey native but has lived in NC for nine years. Tammie enjoys live music events, crafting, cooking, writing, poetry/spoken words, spending time, and taking care of family.
She will be accepting family members by early September!
