Cami Savage, LPC, MA, NCC

Cami Savage, LPC, MA, NCC Formerly Expression Works Counseling, this practice respects that the therapeutic process is unique to each individual and is a cooperative relationship.

Cami is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor of North Carolina, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist with a postgrad certificate in expressive arts therapy. In consideration of this belief, Cami utilizes a variety of approaches that include: cognitive behavioral therapy to challenge thought patterns and thinking distortions; reality therapy to challenge th

e client with more conscientious decision-making; Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to separate and explore the multidimensional self as a constellation of “parts” at work. In addition, Cami has knowledge of and experience in play therapy, both directive and non-directive. Cami has a bachelor’s degree in creative writing and a postgraduate certificate in expressive arts therapy. Cami lends her knowledge to such approaches as therapeutic writing, journaling, collaging, mixed media, visual art, and draws upon her experience with dance, music, and drama therapy. Cami believes that expression can occur through many different mediums when words may yet be too intimidating or insufficient. Note: the therapeutic approach is not (only) reserved for the artistically-inclined! The therapeutic integrity is process-oriented and for means of expression—not for artistic critiquing. The elements of healing and creativity are closely related, thus relaxing this “inner critic” becomes necessary. Underlying it all is a warm, person-centered approach that respects individuals as the utmost experts of themselves and the movement of their life journey. It is through this courageous exploration of the self that patterns and belief systems may be understood and challenged for a more fulfilling quality of life. It works. ✨ And yes, something this simple can do so so much. Tip: if not stuffed animals, you can also talk to pets. 💗

A big part of therapy right here, sometimes called “The Rumplestilskin Effect.” Giving voice and acknowledgement to all the parts of us, even (or most especially) the darkest ones; acknowledge, sit with, and listen. And remember that once you can name something, it starts to lose its power. ✨
