Jonathon Matthew Sigmon or “Matthew” was a hard worker who was always ready to offer a helping hand. He was his mother’s first born and gave her a beautiful granddaughter.

In his spare time, Matthew loved the time he spent riding his Harley Davidson. He told his mom that riding was when he had time to think about life. He was quite artistic and had beautiful handwriting. He loved NASCAR and dirt track racing. Matthew enjoyed working with his hands and would often be found building things or working on cars.

Sadly, Matthew’s tissue and eyes couldn’t be transplanted. Because he said “yes” to donation, we’re proud to call him a donor in spirit.

Matthew’s tissue and eyes were going to be donated, but sadly, couldn’t be transplanted. Because he said “yes” to donation, we’re proud to call Matthew a “Donor in Spirit.”

Colton had an excellent smile. In addition to that, his mom will miss the sound of her son’s voice and the feeling of him wrapping his arms around her shoulders.

She says he was a loving brother and a wonderful son. As a young boy, Colton loved to play sports and was an excellent athlete.

Colton’s eyes were donated to give 2 people the gift of sight. His donated tissue will heal 37 people. If you want to nominate your loved one for Hero of the Week, you can do so at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Tributes

We are proud to announce another successful record year of saving lives 💚🫀💙

LifeShare Carolinas has achieved Tier 1 status for 5 consecutive years and is the only organ procurement organization (OPO) in North Carolina to do so. Tier 1 status means we are in the top 25% of OPOs in the country.

None of our success would be possible without our dedicated and skilled teammates and our donor heroes as well as their families. We are forever grateful 💙🫀💚

This information comes from the 2025 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) annual report

Caleb’s smile would light up the room. His mom misses being on the receiving end of that smile and getting his big hugs. Caleb was an incredibly caring and loving individual. She’s proud of the big things her son did in this world, including becoming a donor. He graduated high school with honors and made the dean’s list at both Gardner Webb and UNC Charlotte.

In his spare time, he loved learning new things and building his faith by studying the Bible. Caleb enjoyed playing board games with his family and playing video games. He was also a great football and basketball player.

Caleb saved 5 lives through organ donation and 2 of his organs were donated to important medical research. Additionally, he provided 1 person with the gift of sight through eye donation. If you want to nominate your loved one for Hero of the Week, you can do so at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Tributes

Ashlyn lived with love in her heart and had compassion for others. She was hopeful in the grace of God and had a pure, joyful love of life. Her parents say that we should all take a page from Ashlyn’s book in how we live our lives.

Ashlyn lived a live full of love and endless adventures. She loved to spend her time singing, acting, hanging with friends, dancing in sparkly dresses, and participating in so many more hobbies! She was very charitable and spent a lot of her time volunteering for charitable organizations. She participated in a variety of programs from Friends for Special Needs to Young Life.

Not only that, but she was also an athlete in the Special Olympics. She was a gold, silver, and bronze medalist in ice skating for NC and the US Southeastern region as well as a medalist in track and field. Ashlyn had a green/white belt in Taekwondo, was a cheerleader for the Carolina Panthers Challenger League, and was featured on a Times Square Billboard for the National Down Syndrome Society.

Ashlyn provided 2 people with the gift of sight through eye donation. Her donated tissue will also heal 6 people. If you want to nominate your loved one for Hero of the Week, you can do so at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Tributes

Could a role as an organ preservation coordinator at LifeShare be your new dream job? Let Taylor take you behind the scenes to find out! That dream could become your reality.

Our organ preservation coordinators play a vital role in the organ donation process. They assist surgeons during recovery, keep kidneys functioning until transplant, and so much more. It's the perfect role for a scrub tech who's looking to expand their skills and be part of our lifesaving mission.

Benjamin was so loved by everyone who interacted with him. People were touched by his conversation skills, his smile, and the laughter he brought with him. His friends and family loved his singing as well!

In his free time, Benjamin enjoyed cheering on the Baltimore Ravens and attending concerts. He loved watching movies, like Sister Act, and really enjoyed listening to artists like Janet Jackson and Beyoncé.

Benjamin’s tissue and eyes were going to be donated, but sadly, couldn’t be transplanted. Because he said “yes” to donation, we’re proud to call Benjamin a “Donor in Spirit.”

Always having a window seat is cool, but getting to save lives for a living is even cooler 😉

Our organ preservation coordinators fly across the country to recover hearts for transplant and bring them back to save lives in Charlotte and Winston-Salem. They take chartered flights to keep the hearts safe and to stay on top of the tight timeline involved in this lifesaving work 💙💚

Willow left quite an impact in her 2 years of life. Her mother described her as a happy, beautiful little girl. Despite the pain she lived through, she was always smiling.

She loved the outdoors and spending time with her family. She enjoyed her spin toys, being upside down, and watching the Disney movie, "Encanto."

Willow saved 2 lives through the donation of her heart valves. If you want to nominate your loved one to be a Hero of the Week, visit LifeShareCarolinas.org/Tributes
