These soulful eyes belong to Grace, a 15 year old Boxer mix. Grace has combination of upper back pain, back end weakness and arthritis in her knees. She’s already taking several medications for pain relief but her dad wanted to try adding in acupuncture to see if the combination of therapies offered more relief.

This charcoal cherub is Remmy, a 15 ish year old shepherd mix. Remmy has been struggling with back end weakness/sinking, ataxia and exercise intolerance. X-rays revealed narrowed disc spaces in her lumbar spine. We are treating her for presumptive IVDD with acupuncture, PEMF and laser therapy. So far she’s tolerating treatments well. Stay tuned to see how our integrative protocol helps to improve her daily life.

This sweet mug belongs to Max, a 10 1/2 year old Ridgeback mix. Max has long history of acl tears and arthritis in his knees. His family has used integrative therapies in past and decided to restart after Max slipped on the ice during the recent storms and came up lame on his left hind leg.

Remember Ilsa? She’s a 9 1/2 year old German Shepherd that was diagnosed with a spinal infection last June. As a result of this infection, Ilsa was paralyzed. Over past 6 months, she has been treated with combination of heavy duty antibiotics as well as Chinese herbs, laser therapy, acupuncture and underwater treadmill therapy. Here she is this past weekend enjoying the snow. Many kudos to Dr. Mauler at CVS Matthews and Jason Dean at Long Animal Hospital for co managing this case with me! This charming chichi is 14 ish year old Layla. She started to struggle to walk 2 weeks ago. X-rays and consultation with her regular and emergency vets revealed likely IVDD in her neck. They also discovered a significant heart murmur so Layla’s family was worried how she would do with anesthesia needed for mri +/- surgery. She was sent home on oral medications for pain and spinal inflammation. Her family elected to also add in acupuncture to help her recover. This is happy Layla just 1 week after her first acupuncture treatment. She’s much improved and her personality is back. Here’s to hoping this sweet old lady continues her recovery

This happy hound is Calvin, a 15 year old Hound mix. Calvin has a long history of back pain and back end weakness likely from historical disc issues. His discomfort was managed with traditional anti inflammatory medications and laser therapy. 2 months ago, however, bloodwork revealed early kidney issues. His family elected to pursue acupuncture and herbal remedies to address his discomfort without taxing his kidneys further. So far he has responded beautifully to integrative approach to pain management

This black beauty is Scarlett, a 13 year old terrier mix with prior history of back issues (IVDD). She has surgery for this in 2020 and recovered well. 2 weeks ago she started favoring her back right leg after coming in from back yard. Exam at vet revealed back pain and possible nerve impingement (root signature) causing the deficits. She was started on medications to help her recuperate but her family decided to add in acupuncture and laser therapy to help hasten her healing. After two visits her family feels she is improving. This sugar dusted senior is Tigger, a 13 year old pibble mix. Poor Tigger has long history of blindness since puppyhood (possibly intentional by first owner). He underwent surgery to correct acl tears in both knees 2 years ago. His recent issues are with mobility and comfort. Exam revealed general soft tissue discomfort as well as pain on full extension of his hips. He was very receptive to needling. Hoping that an integrated approach to pain management will help this sweet boy feel more comfortable

This little puppy angel is Daisy, a 5 year old Doxie. Daisy tweaked her back several months ago. She completed her course of western meds for presumptive IVDD but she still had residual back pain. Her mom decided to add acupuncture and other integrative modalities to see if we can address the root cause of her discomfort and provide long term comfort

This soulful senior is Mojo, a 16 year old Spaniel x. Mojo has been struggling with worsening multi focal arthritis, weakness and incontinence in past year or so. Western meds have helped some but he remains uncomfortable. His family is hoping adding acupuncture, laser and Chinese herbs might help ease his discomfort and give him back some of the mojo of his youth

This fluffernutter is Hobbes, a 13 year old Australian Shepherd x. Hobbes has a stiff gait in back legs from combination of arthritis in hips and spine. He has already been receiving acupuncture and laser therapy for his ailments, but his family thought housecall treatments might be more relaxing for him. Happy to step in and help provide this sweet, stoic senior some pain relief for his sore joints
