We lost our sweet angel Maddie this weekend 💔

After overcoming so much and an incredibly strong fight, she lost her battle with cancer.

Maddie had the biggest heart, never met a person or dog she didn't immediately love, shared my big appetite and my love of food...and the sun, and could always communicate exactly what she was thinking/wanted with her super animated facial expressions.

I'll miss my little shadow so much 🐾💗

Did this surprise you?

We're spending more than ever on weight loss attempts, but the scale keeps climbing (even if we do see initial weight loss).

The drive to want to lose weight makes sense, because the diet industry has taught us smaller bodies = better bodies.

And the way to get that ideal, smaller body is by eating less, and exercising more.

But it’s easy to find proof that that approach just doesn’t work (see graphic).

If you relate to this, try mixing things up and taking a weight-neutral approach.

Focus on adding in healthy behaviors that feel good, rather than focusing on what you should/shouldn't do to get smaller.

This approach will allow your body to reach and maintain its healthiest weight in a way that is healthy and actually enjoyable for you, and it's the approach my clients see so much success with.

If you want to be a success story too, take the first step by clicking here to set up a complimentary discovery call.

I can see why you may feel like you want to quit sugar, like if you feel addicted to it or out of control around it.

But instead of quitting it and giving it up completely, why not work on your relationship with it?

When you work on improving your relationship with sugar, you're able to feel the same way about it as you do other foods, like an apple or carrots.

Some days it sounds tasty and you want some...other days you don't.

When you do eat some, you feel empowered to eat however much of it you'd like, with no trouble stopping when you want to stop.

You can enjoy it, savor it, and move on with your life.

Is that the type of relationship with sugar you want to have? Would you rather quit it?

It's always time to treat yourself 😋

Never feel like you have to earn or make up for eating food that makes you happy.

When you ditch the diets and develop a healthier relationship with food, ALL foods can have a place in a healthy, balanced diet.

This has to be one of my favorite food freedom, intuitive eating benefits!

Before I worked on my relationship with food, eating trigger foods I loved, like chips, would always be both a positive and negative experience:

😁Positive: I loved chips, crunchy, salty goodness!

😥Negative: I felt out of control around them, I couldn't eat them without using willpower to try not to eat the whole bag, and I'd feel guilty after

Now, I work with and help empower clients every day to create a happy, balanced, and confident relationship with ALL foods, so they can enjoy what they love in amounts and frequencies that feel best to them!

Are you overeating because you have awful willpower? Terrible self control?

NOPE!

Even if those things are true, it's still NOT the main driver of your overeating. It's actually rooted in a lack of permission.

When we have rules or shoulds in place for what, when, and/or how much we eat (or tell ourselves is OK to eat), our body fights back. It does not like feeling restricted from the very thing it needs for survival (FOOD!).

So it releases various hormones that ultimately increase our likelihood of overeating.

Curious if this is impacting you? Want help making eating easy, finding balance with food, and feeling confident in your eating habits? PM me to learn about how I can support you in my 1x1 coaching program!

Not your average what I eat in a day video 🙃

But hopefully this one is a lot more helpful!

Comparing what/how much we eat to others (IRL or just strangers on the internet) can be really harmful because we are all unique and have different needs.

Some bodies need more, some need less, and what/how much we need varies each day depending on a variety of factors.

So instead of comparing and trying to make you eating look more like someone else's - focus on trying to include this type of eats in your day 🥰

This is happening because of something called: Psychological Reactance Theory 🤓

Play along with this scenario to see how it works!

Close your eyes. Imagine a purple elephant as vividly as you can.

Now, I want you to NOT think about the purple elephant. Think of anything else BUT the purple elephant.

How many times did the purple elephant cross your mind? Quite a few times, right?

When we are told we shouldn’t do something or our freedom to behave in a certain way is restricted, our inner rebel kicks in and we fixate on or even do that forbidden thing.

Like when we tell ourselves not to eat something, or that we shouldn’t, it’s bad...it just makes us want it more!

Psychology plays such a HUGE role in our actions and behaviors with food.

Don't let this fear-mongering saying deter you from eating foods you enjoy and want to eat!

Because after all, it's not true.

No single food or food group has the power to cause weight gain, let alone immediate & permanent weight gain 😆

ALL foods 100% can be enjoyed as part of a healthy diet (unless you're allergic of course!), while also maintaining our healthiest weight.
