When people hear “postpartum mental health,” they often think of one thing: depression.
But the truth? It’s much broader.
Reproductive mental health is a wide umbrella that includes the emotional, relational, and psychological experiences connected to trying to conceive, pregnancy, loss, birth, and the first year postpartum.
And Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) don’t stop at depression. They can include anxiety, OCD, PTSD, panic disorder, bipolar disorders, and even postpartum psychosis during pregnancy and throughout the first year after birth.
These experiences are more common than most people realize.
They are real.
They are diagnosable.
And most importantly — they are treatable.
You are not “bad at this.” You are not broken. You are not alone.
Save this for reference, or share it with someone who might need language for what they’re feeling. 🧡
