For years, Toni Genberg assumed a healthy garden was a healthy habitat. That’s how she approached the landscaping around her home in northern Virginia. On trips to the local gardening center, she would privilege aesthetics, buying whatever looked pretty, “which was typically ornamental or invasi...

Becoming 🌟

The sun is still shining,
the wind is still blowing,
and out in the wild
you are growing.
Days may go by
without change
you can feel,
but what's happening here
is most certainly real:
You are becoming
what you were meant
to become
out in the wild
in the arms of the sun.

On the eve of this first new moon of the year, plant your seeds and be patient, victory is coming. May your obstacles be overcome, and may you continue to grow towards the light.

The first new moon of 2021 ❤️

NEW MOON – Jan 12 (9:00 pm PT)

We’re at a karmic threshold. The new moon initiates the first lunar cycle of 2021 and sets a serious tone for the weeks to come. Personal freedom, resilience, and integrity are coming into sharp focus now, as a call to self-empowerment is rising. Focus on your sense of inner truth.

This new moon’s in the area of the sky, or lunar mansion, called Uttara Ashadha. Known as the “Universal Star,” Uttara Ashadha is symbolized by an elephant’s tusk, and is connected to the Hindu elephant god, Ganesha, who has the power to remove obstacles.

With the American political system in an unprecedented state of crisis, the influence of Uttara Ashadha could help to inspire new leadership and instill a sense of purpose that will serve the American people. It can also inspire truth and personal integrity on the individual level, asking each and every one of us to to be clear about our purpose.

Stubborn negative forces that keep us in destructive patterns—be they personal or political—can be cast aside now, and new precedents can be set...

Forgive Yourself 🌟

At any given moment, we are all doing the best we can, with what we have, with what we know at that (this) time. Including you...including me.

Message received from Lalitha Devi...
Are you ready to forgive yourself? To let go and transform your guilt or shame?

Some of my self-forgiveness work:
Enduring abuse
PTSD
Not going to college
Post partum depression
Regular ole depression
Miscarriage and baby loss
Gaining weight
Aging
Parenting mistakes
Shrinking myself
Losing my father
Not being good enough
Poor coping mechanisms

What I am realizing is, there is nothing here that is inherently my fault. Nothing to be ashamed of. What’s on your list? How are you punishing yourself, creating your armor, and how is it showing up in your relationships and spiritual practices?

Get Proud y’all ❤️

If you are not proud
For who you are, for what you say, for how you look;
If every time you stop
To think of yourself, you do not see yourself glowing
With golden light; do not, therefore, give up on yourself.
You can get proud.

You do not need
A better body, a purer spirit, or a Ph.D.
To be proud.
You do not need
A lot of money, a handsome boyfriend, or a nice car.
You do not need
To be able to walk, or see, or hear,
Or use big, complicated words,
Or do any of those things that you just can’t do
To be proud. A caseworker
Cannot make you proud,
Or a doctor.
You only need more practice.
You get proud by practicing.

There are many many ways to get proud.
You can try riding a horse, or skiing on one leg,
Or playing guitar,
And do well or not so well,
And be glad you tried
Either way.
You can show
Something you’ve made
To someone you respect
And be happy with it no matter
What they say.
You can say
What you think, though you know
Other people do not think the same way, and you can
keep saying it, even if they tell you
You are crazy.

You can add your voice
All night to the voices
Of a hundred and fifty others
In a circle
Around a jailhouse
Where your brothers and sisters are being held
For blocking buses with no lifts,
Or you can be one of the ones
Inside the jailhouse,
Knowing of the circle outside.
You can speak your love
To a friend
Without fear.
You can find someone who will listen to you
Without judging you or doubting you or being
Afraid of you
And let you hear yourself perhaps
For the very first time.
These are all ways
Of getting proud.
None of them
Are easy, but all of them
Are possible. You can do all of these things,
Or just one of them again and again.
You get proud
By practicing.

“To get a good view, look to the southwest after sunset and find the brightest "star" in the sky. That will be the "double planet" of Jupiter and Saturn. You'll want to get to a spot with a clear view along the southwest horizon because the planets are not going to appear high in the sky. “

Sun. Illumination. Hope.

Right now there are Tibetan Buddhist monks in a temple in the Himalayas endlessly reciting mantras for the cessation of your suffering and for the flourishing of your happiness.

Someone you haven't met yet is already dreaming of adoring you.

Someone is writing a book that you will read in the next two years that will change how you look at life.

Nuns in the Alps are in endless vigil, praying for the Holy Spirit to alight the hearts of all of God's children.

A farmer is looking at his organic crops and whispering, "nourish them”.

Someone wants to kiss you, to hold you, to make tea for you.

Someone is willing to lend you money, wants to know what your favorite food is, and treat you to a movie.

Someone in your orbit has something immensely valuable to give you — for free.

Something is being invented this year that will change how your generation lives, communicates, heals and passes on.

The next great song is being rehearsed.

Thousands of people are in yoga classes right now intentionally sending light out from their heart chakras and wrapping it around the earth.

Millions of children are assuming that everything is amazing and will always be that way.

Someone is in profound pain, and a few months from now, they'll be thriving like never before. From where they are, they just can't see it .

Someone has recently cracked open their joyous, genuine nature because they did the hard work of hauling years of oppression off of their psyche — this luminous juju is floating in the ether, and is accessible to you.

Someone just this second wished for world peace, in earnest.

Someone is dedicating their days to protecting your civil liberties and clean drinking water.

Someone is regaining their sanity.
Someone is coming back from the dead.
Someone is genuinely forgiving the seemingly unforgivable.
Someone is curing the incurable.
You. Me. Some. One. Now.

—Mary Standing Otter

Dec 21
Solstice + The Great Conjunction
Dark night of the soul and a global rebirth...

We’re at a tipping point. Winter solstice - the longest night of the year, and the end point of a karmic cycle of darkness.

In the northern hemisphere, it’s the beginning of , an auspicious season of spiritual growth when light begins to return to earth. The days will soon lengthen and grow brighter.

It’s said that the sun dies and is reborn on the winter solstice. In the Mahabharata, Bhishma prolonged his final breath in order to die on this auspicious night. For this reason, all endings and beginnings are blessed at this time.

On top of it all, a rare astrological phenomenon is simultaneously occurring on Dec 21.
The great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn will come to a climax, as they align exactly to form a double flame.

The last time such a close pairing of these two great planets was observable to the naked eye was 800 years ago.

Jupiter and Saturn are powerful planets of dharma and collective karma. Since 2020 began, they have been on a slow and relentless collision course, and the sobering and awakening effects of this alignment have grown.

Restrictive Saturn’s iron grip on Jupiter has coincided with mass lockdowns due to the pandemic, while fostering tough new attitudes toward education, government, travel, and public health — all issues of Jupiter.

This rare solstice conjunction signals a critical turning point for world karma and personal growth.
Jupiter and Saturn support higher spiritual awareness, grounded positive change, sustainable and balanced action, and a surrender to better possibilities to come.

There’s a new beginning around the corner.

SOLAR ECLIPSE
Dec 14 (5:33 a.m. to 10:53 a.m. PT)

Feeling the intensity?
Eclipses often occur in times of fated plot twists and dramatic forks in the road.

This eclipse is on the Vedic star of Jyestha -- the heart of the Scorpion -- the oldest and wisest , or divine feminine energy.
An eclipse in Jyestha may ask you to step up, stand up for yourself, and make better choices that honor your highest self.

Ketu, the shadowy tail of the eclipse dragon, conjoins the sun and moon to create this solar eclipse. A symbol of endings, past lives, and inner spiritual resources.
Ketu can expedite closures, cut unhealthy cords, and clear the path for something new and more supportive to emerge.

If you’re frustrated with some aspect of your life, or craving significant change, now is the time to let go of the past and embrace the future, no matter how uncertain it may feel…
