Valuable, free resource for teens!

Did you know we launched a new DBT Skills Group here at the Center? DBT, or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, teaches practical skills for managing emotions, coping with stress, building healthier relationships, and staying present. This group is a welcoming space for anyone who feels overwhelmed, deals with mood swings or self-criticism, or just wants new ways to feel more in control and connected. This is a free group for LGBTQ+ young people ages 13 - 24 that runs in 12 - 14 week cycles. Come as you are, whenever you’re ready — you belong here. ❤🌈

Just read a really hopeful article about coping with uncertainty (hello 2020-2025 and counting) by Eric Levine, Ed.D. and Kim Nelson, M.A. from Cooper Riis.
Key points from are:
~Economic and political uncertainty can reshape our neural circuitry through chronic stress and cortisol overload.
~We can undo this rewiring by tending to our nervous systems through intentional relaxation practices.
~Mindfulness movement and meditation improve both acute and long-term resilience, possibly by toning the vagus nerve.

Had such a great time celebrating pride JOY of all kinds and raising money for Charlotte Trans Health! Dorie Charnin & Holly Bielstein Savoy did a fantastic job as did my amazing colleagues who were brave enough to walk the carpet alongside fabulous drag queen mentors. Money goes to supporting CTH and the PATH program that provides healthcare to folx in NC.
