Maxine enjoyed some “me time” this past week, starting off strong with a beautiful hair styling service by Missy at Southern Luxe Salon! She then journeyed over to Clean Your Dirty Face to receive her first-ever facial. She raved about how her skin felt, and got to take home a bottle facial oil to keep her skin nice and hydrated. Lastly, she rounded everything out with a trip to Sephora for a beautiful makeover! She left Sephora glowing both inside and out. We are so happy to provide these experiences to our residents through our Adventure program. Here at Waltonwood, we believe everyone deserves to be pampered like Maxine!

Last week, Waltonwood Cotswold proudly hosted our Winter Olympics, filled with energy, teamwork, and friendly competition.

On Wednesday and Thursday, residents competed in individual and team Olympic events, including Olympic Bowling and an exciting Olympic Relay. The fun and camaraderie carried throughout each event as everyone gave their best effort.

Our celebration featured three special presentations on Friday Afternoon: the Men’s Rhythm and Strength Routine, the Women’s Color Guard presentation, and a synchronized noodle routine that were all worthy of a gold medal!

We concluded the week on Friday afternoon with an awards ceremony following the presentations, recognizing our medal winners from both the individual and team competitions. It was a wonderful week that truly reflected the spirit of our community at Waltonwood Cotswold.

We wrapped up an incredible National Wear Red Day filled with meaningful moments, education, and celebration. The day kicked off with a healthy homemade juice taste test led by our driver, Jeanette, who shared the benefits of the ingredients and how they support heart health. We then hosted a blood pressure clinic with our friends from Aroga Home Care Services, giving residents a chance to learn more about their numbers and ask questions.

After lunch, we gathered to celebrate the winners of our third annual One Mile Marathon, a week long event where residents and associates completed ten laps and competed for the fastest time. This year we were especially proud to present a new honor, the Certificate of Determination, awarded to our resident Vicky for her incredible persistence and commitment to finishing the marathon no matter what.

We ended the day on a festive note with a Go Red themed Happy Hour, bringing everyone together to celebrate a full day dedicated to heart health, determination, and community.

We wanted to share a few more photos from our Waltonwood to Dollywood celebration last week. Residents and associates came together for a Dolly themed happy hour and embraced the spirit of the day by dressing up in their favorite Dolly-approved western wear, complete with rhinestones, bandanas, cowboy boots and flannels. It was a wonderful way to celebrate, connect and enjoy a little extra fun together.

We celebrated our second annual Waltonwood to Dollywood theme day this week in honor of Dolly’s 80th birthday, bringing a fun and meaningful celebration to our community. As part of the festivities, our residents enjoyed a special visit on Thursday afternoon from Soleil the mini horse. This was Soleil’s first time visiting us, and our residents were delighted by the experience and truly over the moon to spend time with such a unique guest!

Our latest Waltonwood adventure took place last week and it was a very special one. Our resident Sharon was treated to a well deserved spa day experience. Sharon has always loved taking time to get pampered, but had not been able to treat herself in quite some time, so we were thrilled to do it for her. Her day began with a relaxing massage at Poseidon Spa inside the Grand Bohemian Hotel in uptown Charlotte, followed by a wonderful pedicure from the caring team at Retention Nails and Spa. It was a beautiful day centered on comfort, relaxation, and making Sharon feel as special as she is.

Our residents got creative with terracotta pots and turned them into the most adorable snowmen. This unique craft brought plenty of winter cheer as each snowman took on its own personality.

Just in time for Christmas, our residents created these pinecone Christmas trees yesterday. They love making craft projects to proudly put on display throughout the community. We hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season!

Earlier this week, we surprised our residents with a special treat - an early visit from Santa! We know how busy he is during this time of year, so we appreciated him making time to stop by. Check out the smiles he brought to our residents’ faces!

Last Friday, our residents had a wonderful time attending the 21st Annual Norman Steinberger Senior Adult Chanukah Celebration at the Levine Jewish Community Center. They enjoyed a delicious lunch, lively musical entertainment, and the chance to celebrate the holiday surrounded by friends and community. It was a meaningful and joyful outing that truly captured the spirit of Chanukah.

Last week, Anne danced her way through her Adventure to a class hosted by the Charlotte Ballet! Anne enjoyed moving her body and letting loose while instructor Amber led the class through music accompanied by various dance moves. This was right up Anne’s alley as she is so joyful and aims to get the most out of life each day! A special thanks to Leah and Missy at Southern Luxe Salon for graciously getting Anne ready for her big day with a fresh blowout and curls, and thank you to the Charlotte Ballet for hosting a lovely class with a lovely group of people.

This morning, we enjoyed a special visit from our friends in third grade at Charlotte Jewish Day School. They prepared a wonderful program for our residents to celebrate Thanksgiving together, recited poems and completed a gratitude craft. Students and residents paired up to make adorable turkeys and wrote what they are thankful for on the feathers. We always love their visits and the joy they bring to our community.
