Today Mary Lou enjoyed a picnic at Glencairn Gardens. She is a nature lover to her core, lifelong garden club member, and even the founder of Flowers Over Frederick! She started this beautiful organization to brighten up the city of Frederick, MD where she spent many fulfilling years. Mary Lou is the type of person to leave a lasting impact everywhere she goes, and although she’s relocated to Charlotte, her community in Frederick has kept her initiative thriving. We loved having an opportunity to brighten Mary Lou’s day by surrounding her with what she loves most!

Our residents had a wonderful time getting creative with our April Showers door hanger project. Each person painted their own wooden door hanger and umbrella design, adding shimmering mirrorball raindrops for a fun and eye-catching touch. These beautiful creations are on display throughout the community for the entire month, bringing a little extra brightness to our hallways. We always enjoy working on projects together that not only spark creativity, but also allow us to share and celebrate our work with one another.

Today, residents from Waltonwood Cotswold had a fantastic time celebrating Read Across America Day with the preschoolers at Providence Baptist Church Child Development Center. During our safari-themed event, our residents read The Giraffe Who Found Its Spots, sparking lots of smiles and curiosity. We also had fun sharing interesting giraffe facts with the students and seeing their excitement come to life. It was a truly special experience for everyone involved, and we look forward to partnering with our neighbors at Providence Baptist CDC again next year!

Maxine enjoyed some “me time” this past week, starting off strong with a beautiful hair styling service by Missy at Southern Luxe Salon! She then journeyed over to Clean Your Dirty Face to receive her first-ever facial. She raved about how her skin felt, and got to take home a bottle facial oil to keep her skin nice and hydrated. Lastly, she rounded everything out with a trip to Sephora for a beautiful makeover! She left Sephora glowing both inside and out. We are so happy to provide these experiences to our residents through our Adventure program. Here at Waltonwood, we believe everyone deserves to be pampered like Maxine!

Last week, Waltonwood Cotswold proudly hosted our Winter Olympics, filled with energy, teamwork, and friendly competition.

On Wednesday and Thursday, residents competed in individual and team Olympic events, including Olympic Bowling and an exciting Olympic Relay. The fun and camaraderie carried throughout each event as everyone gave their best effort.

Our celebration featured three special presentations on Friday Afternoon: the Men’s Rhythm and Strength Routine, the Women’s Color Guard presentation, and a synchronized noodle routine that were all worthy of a gold medal!

We concluded the week on Friday afternoon with an awards ceremony following the presentations, recognizing our medal winners from both the individual and team competitions. It was a wonderful week that truly reflected the spirit of our community at Waltonwood Cotswold.
