In the years since the COVID-19 pandemic began, most of us have become familiar with the virus and its symptoms. However, for some people, challenging and unusual side effects can last long after the infection clears.

The lingering symptoms can include fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, and heart issues. Researchers are studying a possible link between long COVID and a condition called postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) with very similar symptoms.

Today, we're proud to honor University Medical Center health unit coordinator Katelyn Mitchell, who assisted a hospice patient's family with getting medications mistakenly left behind during the transport process. We're incredibly proud of Katelyn's commitment to lifting the burden off a patient's family during their time of stress and sadness.

Researchers at UVA Health and Virginia Commonwealth University have identified an existing drug that appears to provide lasting relief for POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), a condition that causes heart racing and dizziness when standing, among other symptoms.

The new findings also suggest answers about the underlying causes of the syndrome, which has attracted growing attention on social media.
