Iyengar yoga develops flexibility, strength, and endurance by focusing on alignment and form. This yoga style is all about paying close attention to your body posture and breath control. Regular asana systematically improves the strength of the body, its flexibility, stability, and awareness.
With this practice, you’ll find that it is more about the quality of movement than quantity which helps encourage safety throughout your practice. Practitioners find (and like!) that it is a slower, more precise yoga with an emphasis on anatomical details more so than some other styles. The Iyengar style of yogic practice is known for its use of props like yoga blocks, blankets, straps, and towels to make all poses more accessible, but also to ensure that your body is properly aligned throughout.
