Passages Physical Therapy, PLC offers solutions to problems and painful conditions in the abdominal, pelvic and spine regions occurring most often through life transitions. Passages PT’s philosophy is to create a pleasing, comforting and private environment for
a variety of health needs, ranging from everyday issues to difficult problems. Passages PT is dedicated to offering prevention programs in addition to treatment opportunities. Our specialized programs are ideal for women of all ages and also for men experiencing problems in the pelvic region due to injury or problems with the prostate. A personalized evaluation helps determine customized care including manual therapies, mobilization, myofascial release, neuromuscular reeducation and strain-counterstrain. We also offer wonderful options for abdominal and pelvic muscle training through cutting edge technologies. This includes non-invasive biofeedback and ultrasound rehab imaging helps clients watch muscles working and releasing, to help choose the best home exercises. Our focus is to help you heal with additional calming activities and movements to do at home Self-help options may be recommended such as simple exercise aides, gym balls, Tens units and home biofeedback. We understand that you don't always have the time or resources for gyms, so our treatment isn't designed for you to be dependent on our equipment. Passages PT was founded by Pat Salin Huston, MSPT, BCB-PMD who has over 25 years experience working primarily with women’s health issues. Pat’s Master in Science in Physical Therapy was awarded in 1979 at Texas Woman’s University in Houston. She has earned the CAPP Certification for Pelvic PT through the APTA Section on Women’s Health in 2010 and is Board Certified in Biofeedback for Pelvic Muscle Disorders. Pat's experience and training spans abdominal rehabilitation, bladder and bowel incontinence (female, male and pediatric), bladder urge and frequency, interstitial cystitis IC, constipation, pelvic pain conditions, pudendal neuralgia, pregnancy/post-partum, back pain, pelvic organ prolapse POP and post-prostate pelvic floor rehab. She also has experience with balance disorders, orthopedics, geriatrics, osteoporosis, neurological dysfunctions and pediatrics. She has been a strong advocate toward prevention of pelvic muscle support problems and pain conditions. This includes several years volunteering as a “pink lady” with walker training for the Charlottesville Women’s 4 miler Training Program. More recently, she has participated with the Charlottesville Birth Expo and Birth Matters. Pat established the first incontinence and post-hysterectomy rehab programs and instructional classes in our region. Pat has lectured about incontinence, pelvic pain and sexual dysfunction to physicians, NPs, RNs, medical students and community groups in California and Virginia.
