What is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction? It might be fun to say (my-boh-me-an) but it's not great to have. The edges of your upper and lower eyelids are lubricated by an oily secretion produced by the meibomian glands. This oily secretion contributes to the makeup of the tear film, and serves to decrease the rate at which the tears evaporate.
