“Functional medicine, as I see it, is a methodical, systems based approach to identify interconnected areas of dysfunction that can be supported through dietary and lifestyle modification as well as targeted supplemental or medication therapies.
The science of functional medicine is understanding the fascinating anatomy, physiology and biochemistry behind the human body and the methods by which one can uncover dysfunction within this matrix while ultimately identifying the “access points” for therapeutic relief.
The art of functional medicine is the empathetic listening and compassionate inquiry into a patient’s experience so that we can collaboratively explore the barriers to change and find solutions that are in alignment with a patient’s values and budget.
We frequently hear from individuals asking if we treat Condition XYZ, and my most common answer is yes, we can care for anyone.
This can seem shocking because most of medical care is SO specialized that skilled and intelligent doctors are only capable of performing certain types of surgery or care for patients with one condition.
Even the traditional P*P usually only feels comfortable with a relatively small range of things and mainly focuses on identifying concerns for which they can send you to a specialist. Even if the P*P can help identify certain concerns, they do not really have a toolbox to make meaningful therapeutic change for you.
I am tremendously proud of our team at Resilient Roots and the ways we strive to help families and individuals at any stage of life. We are humbled by the trust and vulnerability of our patients and continue to pray for your health and healing.”
