🩺 Medicare and Medicaid turn 60 today, and these two programs have made healthcare possible for generations.

Today, over 71 million people rely on Medicaid for coverage. But recent political attacks and proposed cuts make us wonder: What does the future look like if vital programs like these are on the chopping block?

At Whole Woman’s Health, more than 25% of our patients have Medicaid. We proudly accept it for all services (including abortion care) where allowed! That includes our clinics in MD, MN, NM, and our pills by mail program in MD, MN, & IL. In VA, we accept Medicaid for all gynecological care, but state law bans abortion care coverage.

đź’ś Everyone deserves access to healthcare. Everyone deserves fabulous abortion care, no matter their insurance.

Not all rebellion looks like marching in the streets. Sometimes it looks like choosing where you get your care.

From abortion and birth control to s*x education, anti-abortion extremists are trying to shut it all down. But they don’t get the final say. You do.

Get your birth control from your local abortion provider. Give us a call or book online.

Yesterday, a federal court upheld West Virginia’s ban on mifepristone. Yes, the FDA-approved medication that’s been used by millions of people for abortion care for decades.

Let’s be clear: this isn’t about safety nor is it rooted in science. This is about power.

Anti-abortion politicians and judges are working overtime to shatter every single path to abortion care, from abortion clinics to your mailbox.

And if you think it stops with our neighbors in West Virginia? Think again. These attacks are designed to spread. Because when one state gets away with it, others line up to play copycat.

Whole Woman’s Health & Whole Woman’s Health Alliance clinics are still accepting Medicaid for abortion care in Maryland, Minnesota, and New Mexico—and for GYN care in Virginia.

Patients are now being turned away and referred out, but not here. We’re here. We’re open. We’re ready to provide care.

📣 Help us spread the word by sharing this post.

This Independence Day, we’re reflecting on what freedom really means. Because in a country where patients are still scrambling for funds, crossing state lines, and facing threats for seeking basic care—freedom feels more fragile than ever.

As anti-abortion extremists try to strip away our rights in courts and statehouses across the country, we’re not backing down. We’re reclaiming what freedom looks like and it will always include abortion rights.

We don’t ask people to leave parts of themselves behind to access abortion care. You deserve to be seen, respected, and supported—as your full, authentic self. ✨

Three years ago today, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

We said people would suffer—and they have. Confusion is rampant, and it’s not a glitch—it’s by design. The Dobbs decision wrote chaos into law.

And yet... abortion access hasn’t survived by accident. It’s here because abortion providers had the audacity to hope, the determination to serve, and the fire to fight back.

At Whole Woman’s Health and Whole Woman’s Health Alliance, we’re still showing up—every day, in every way we can. We’re still here. And we’re making damn sure abortion care stays that way.

Every patient deserves to walk into a clinic without fear. Every provider deserves to walk out safely.

But anti-abortion terrorism has made that reality a luxury.

Threats. Arsons. Assassinations.
These aren’t hypotheticals—they’re history. And they still happen.

Still, abortion providers persist.
Because our patients need us and are counting on us to show up.

We are deeply grateful for the unwavering courage of our clinic staff, doctors, escorts, and advocates—who continue to show up, even when the world can make it dangerous at times to do so.

Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, to Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, and to all those impacted by today’s horrific violence.

We’ve learned that abortion providers were also listed on the suspect’s hit list. All of us at Whole Woman’s Health of Minnesota are safe. We remain in close communication with law enforcement, are taking every precaution, and continue to care for our patients with compassion and courage.

All acts of terror have no place in our communities. We will continue to show up—unshaken, united, and unwavering in our commitment to abortion care.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Matthew (he/him), Funding Coordinator.

Abortion access takes a village—and Matthew has been a key part of ours for almost 11 years!

He works behind the scenes to manage financial coordination and ensure patients aren’t left with unresolved costs after funds or insurance are applied.

His work may not always be visible, but his impact is immeasurable!

đź’ś Thank you, Matthew, for ensuring so many people get to focus on getting the care they need. Your work and dedication ripple far beyond what most people ever see.

💡Let’s be clear: EMTALA is still the law. EMTALA hasn’t changed—but now the rules are murkier. And when doctors are confused or afraid of being prosecuted, patients ultimately pay the price.

The Trump administration rescinded a Biden-era guidance that made it clear hospitals must provide abortion care in emergencies—even in states with abortion bans.

Confused? That’s the point. Confusion is a tool—and they’re using it to block care for those who urgently need it. This is cruel and pregnant people deserve better.

RFK Jr. is trotting out anti-abortion junk science to justify attacking mifepristone — and calling it a “review.” 🗣️ We call bu****it.

❌ This isn’t about safety. This is about control. About making abortion harder to get — pill by pill, state by state. And we’re not having it.

✨ Mifepristone is safe. The science is settled. The only thing dangerous here is a politician playing doctor.
