A private, comfortable space can make a meaningful difference in your telehealth experience. 💛

Whether you're joining a wellness clinic consultation or a counseling session, finding a place where you feel safe, supported, and free from distractions can help you focus on what matters most: you.

We also want you to feel comfortable with your care. If you have preferences for a counselor with shared lived experience, including Black, Latine, LGBTQ+, disability, or mid-life and older adult communities, we invite you to let us know. This time is yours.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, TWI Mosaic therapist Alethea Burns joined NBC29’s Community Conversation to share more about the programs and services offered at The Women’s Initiative. 💛

From individual and group counseling services to wellness clinics offered four days a week and mind-body and arts & connection offerings, our work is rooted in creating spaces where women and members of the gender-expansive community can feel supported, connected, and cared for.

We are grateful for opportunities to continue sharing this work with our community.

At The Women’s Initiative, volunteers help create spaces for healing, connection, and support across our community.

We are currently seeking trauma-informed, culturally responsive licensed counselors to join us as pro-bono clinical volunteers. Clinicians may provide counseling or facilitate groups either virtually or in person, while receiving access to no-cost trainings and group supervision.

For many participants, these relationships become an important part of their healing journey. We are grateful for every clinician who chooses to share their time and care in this work.

Throwback Thursday 💜 — We love being out in the community. Our presence in local neighborhoods, workplaces, and community centers is often the first way people connect with us and learn about the support we offer.

Last summer, we hosted a tea party support group at Crescent Halls, which was a special afternoon of conversation, connection, and care. ☕✨

The Women’s Initiative invites you to make space for creativity, reflection, and emotional support through Art and Emotions. 🌿

Held on Thursdays from May 28–June 25, from 5:30–7pm at our main office, this five-week group for Latina women will explore emotions through art, craft, creativity, and culture.

Facilitated in English by Lo Somel, LCSW, and Karina Monroy, MA, Art Therapy, the group offers a supportive space to reconnect with the inner child and engage emotions with curiosity and care. To register, participants must complete a short screening by Thursday, May 21. For more information, call 434.328.1800 or email bienestar@thewomensinitiative.org.
