TRAINING AND TESTING

The Companion Animal Program provides a training and testing program to prepare dogs and owners (Therapy Teams) to be appropriate visitors for our program. Visits take place at Cape Cod nursing homes, libraries and other facilities. Our training program consists of basic obedience – commands such as: sit, down, stay, come, no jumping on people, walking on leash without pulling, etc. We teach all the things you would want to know in order for your dog to have “good dog manners.” Hopefully by the end of the session you will be able to take your dog into almost any situation and your dog will behave. We try to make the class fun for the dog and owner..

CAP has been visiting Latham School for over 10 years.CAP Children’s Program dogs share love and a special connection with these residential students.

CAP teams recently took part in the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention event in Hyannis. Our CAP dogs gave support to the many attending whose lives have been touched by the sadness and fear of su***de.
CAP sponsored Jean Fenton and Bergy to participate in the Out of Darkness Walk that raises funds for research and education to prevent su***de .
