🍂✨ This week, we celebrate Michaelmas — a festival of courage, balance, and the turning of the seasons. In biodynamic farming, it’s also the time for special preparations: fresh cow manure is placed into cow horns, chamomile blossoms are packed into cow intestines, and even a cow skull is filled with oak bark and all to be buried in the earth.
Why do we do this? The winter months, when the earth is “breathing in,” provide the perfect environment for these preparations to transform. By spring, they emerge as rich, vital substances that enliven the soil, strengthen plants, and support healthy crops for the year ahead.
It’s a beautiful reminder that even as the days grow shorter and quieter, profound work is happening beneath the surface — in the soil, in nature, and within ourselves. 🌱💫

This morning’s pond clean-up brought together a great group of helping hands. Along with the hard work, there was plenty of learning, storytelling, and laughter. Huge thanks to everyone who joined us!

Yesterday, we spent an hour stirring the biodynamic preparation before bringing it to life in our gardens and fields. These special preparations, made from natural plant, mineral, and animal substances, support soil fertility, plant vitality, and a thriving ecosystem—without synthetic chemicals. A beautiful reminder of how deeply connected farming is to nature’s rhythms.
