We filled our culture hall at the of March in celebration of Connie Mondel and Steve Gitto, who both turn 100 this month!! 🎉 We heard wonderful stories from friends and family, poetry and blessings from our own community members, and a lovely performance by Paul and Anna. These milestone birthdays are a true testament to the spiritual and physical wellness and care we practice in Camphill Ghent. We were delighted to share this special day with our friends Connie and Steve, who have brought so much to our community of elders.

The residents of our Adult Home are delighted to have some much-needed new furniture to keep them comfortable, thanks to a grant we received through the state’s Enhancing the Quality of Adult Living (EQUAL) Program. We were able to use our grant to purchase solid, long-lasting pieces from Furniture Plus right here in Columbia County.
We’re so grateful for this EQUAL grant opportunity and to Furniture Plus in Hudson for working with our needs and specifications!

How can you tell spring is waking up at Camphill Ghent! 🌷🌱☀️
You will find Mr. Gitto cruising around on his scooter, and Mary and Ivy spent some time soaking up the sunshine. Our friends from Copake stopped by to visit. The ice is melting on the pond while green sprouts are popping up in the gardens, and flowers are starting to bloom. Days like this remind us how special springtime here can be.

At Camphill Ghent, we don’t just mark the seasons, we live them.
Carnival brought music, laughter, handmade costumes, and a whole lot of joyful mischief. From dancing to sharing sweet treats, everyone had a part in the celebration… and yes, we even played Pin the Tail on the Fire Horse (which was much harder than it sounds).
This year, we also welcomed the spirit of the Fire Horse, a symbol of energy, courage, and bold hearts. Strong personalities, creative sparks, and a willingness to show up for each other

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Camphill Hudson for joining us and sharing a thoughtful reenactment of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas, along with the singing of Christmas carols. The performance was truly enjoyed by all, especially Bill.

On Sunday, December 14th, we came together for our Winter Festival celebration, Light in the Darkness.

In the prologue to the story of Parzival, it is written:
“A person can attain mastery of his life only upon becoming conscious of how Light and Darkness live together in the soul.”

This powerful idea inspired our celebration. When light permeates darkness—or darkness permeates light—the world of color arises. It is this living, colorful world that we explored together in the Hall.

Through eurythmy, we experienced the different qualities of color, and then, one by one, each person added their own stroke and color to a shared picture. Together, we created a beautiful community artwork, accompanied by the singing of Christmas carols.

It was a meaningful afternoon of creativity, togetherness, and reflection, reminding us of the light we carry and share, even in the darkest seasons. ✨

Thank you, Jodi, for organizing the beautiful boxwood centerpiece project!
Our residents and staff truly enjoyed every moment of it. From choosing the branches to adding the finishing touches, the room was filled with laughter, smiles, and wonderful conversations. Activities like this remind us how special it is to slow down, work side by side, and share in the simple joy of creating something together.

It was a lovely way to welcome the holiday season and to celebrate the sense of togetherness that makes our community so special. Thank you again for bringing us all together in such a meaningful and festive way!🎄🔔❄️🌿💚
