Mr. Jamie J. Witcher, 67, of 1200 Hickory Rd., Chatham, VA departed this life on March 20, 2026 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born April 7, 1958 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Maurice and Mary Ann Witcher.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation.

He was a member of Wilson Memorial Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Jakravitz Tunstall of Chicago and JaChin Witcher of New York; a daughter, Jaime Witcher of Texas; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Tunstall of Danville, VA; four grandchildren, Taylor Gift, Khalil Witcher, Jayona Tunstall and Jakobie Tunstall; three brothers, Maurice (Rose) and Shawn Witcher both of Chatham, VA and Travis Witcher of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Joyce Chattin of Danville, VA and Rebecca Mitchell (Joaquin) of Virginia Beach, VA; one aunt, Sterling Smith of Chatham, VA; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony McClary, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Burial Park with military rites.

Family will receive friends at the residence daily from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Wanda Clark McCain, 64, of 1480 Ringgold Depot Road, Ringgold, VA passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Sovah Health Danville.
Born May 3, 1961 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Major and Edna Aikens Clark. She was married to H. Lester McCain, who survives.
She was a faithful member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church who loved her church and church family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two beautiful daughters, Chanel McCain and LeNesha McCain, both of Danville, VA; a loving special niece, Camilla Clark, of Danville, VA; four brothers, Major Clark, of Reidsville, NC, Kenneth (Frances) Jason and William Clark, all of Danville, VA; a sister, Jackie Russell (Ray), of Danville, VA. She is also survived by several other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Anthony R. Pass, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2026 from 4-6 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Patricia Diane Pannell, 69, of 130 Kennon Drive, Danville, VA passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at her residence.

Born February 28, 1956 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late John L. Medley and the late Bessie Mae Younger. She was also predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Deacon Mose Pannell and Evangelist Emma Pannell. She was married to Randolph H. Pannell, who survives.

She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, a member of the Usher Board and President of the Hospitality Committee. She graduated from Pittsylvania County Public Schools and was employed by Dan River Mill.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Nelson Witcher and Travis S. Witcher, both of Danville, VA; a step son, Jason Pannell, two brothers, Charles E. Witcher (Rosiland), of Gretna, VA, and Carl L. Witcher, of Chatham, VA; a sister, Juanita W. Clark, of Chatham, VA; ten grandchildren, one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her in-laws, Sherman Pannell, Nancy Price (Eugene), Carolyn Booth, Fannie Pannell, Paulene Pannell and Gary Calloway, a beloved puppy, Fluffy other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. from Fairview Baptist Church with Bishop Larry Robertson, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, February 13, 2026 from 4-6 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home.

Ms. Kimberly D. Logan, of 9000 Burly Circle, Brandywine, MD., departed this life Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at her residence.

Born November 6, 1975 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Lawrence Logan and Joyce Jones Logan, who survives.

She graduated from Pittsylvania County Schools and worked as a Banker until her health failed.
She was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to her parents she is survived by a son, JaMarcus Logan of Maryland; eight uncles, one aunt; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 12:00 noon from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Pastor Gloria Starling and Pastor Michael Bethel, Officiating. Interment will follow in New Beginning In Christ Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Mr. Roy (John) Newby, of 1345 County Road, Chatham, Virginia departed this life Thursday, January 22, 2026 at his residence.

Born December 14, 1941in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Douglas and Queen Martin Newby. He was married to Marie Newby, who survives.

He was a member of Hopel Chapel Baptist Church, a member of the choir, male chorus, he also sing with Tarpley Soulettes, Joy Bells, before forming his own group The Mighty Wonders and Tawain Harper for 39 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons Roy Newby Jr., of Danville, and James Newby (Paula), of Roanoke; a daughter, Lillian Perry, of Danville; one brother, James Myers(Kathy), of Danville; a sister, Gaynell Williams, of Augusta, GA; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. from Howerton Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Walton, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Earlevon King, 72, of 285 Friendship Rd., Chatham, VA departed this life Sunday, November 2, 2025 in SOVAH Health Danville.

He was born September 7, 1953 in Pittsylvania County. He was the son of the late Norman D. and Virginia Myers King. He was married to Jacqueline King, who survives.

He was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public School System.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He was a member of New Hope AME Church in Chatham, VA, where he served as a trustee.

In addition to his wife of the residence, he leaves to cherish his precious memories two sons; Quenstin King (Temeca) of High Point, NC and Ryan King of Greensboro, NC; a daughter, Michelle Osborne (Faron) of Danville, VA; four brothers, Norman King, Jr. (Martha) of Martinsville, VA, Leroy King (Debbie) of Volens, VA, Carl King of Greensboro, NC and Leon King (Dorthea) of Graham, NC; four sisters, Deborah Thompson and Audrey King both of Martinsville, VA, Laurie Hodnett of Danville, VA and Lisa Gladden (William) of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from Callands Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
