Yesterday we gathered for our Quarterly Employee Town Halls and "Thanksgiving Dinner" lunch. As we gathered, we were reminded of just how much we have to be grateful for — especially our incredible employees.

Each of you brings something meaningful to our facilities: kindness, teamwork, resilience, and a genuine love for caring for others. Because of you, WCHNH remains a place of comfort, compassion, and quality care for our community.

During this season of gratitude, we want every member of our team to know:
We are thankful for YOU.
Thankful for your dedication.
Thankful for the difference you make.
Thankful for the family we’ve built together at WCHNH.

📞 Phone Line Issues

We are currently experiencing phone line issues this morning due to outages with certain cell phone providers. This is affecting the ability to make or receive calls from cell phones or calls to certain cell phones with that provider. THIS IS HIT OR MISS. Therefore, some may succeed while others may encounter difficulties. The phone error being said is "all circuits are busy." If you hear that message, it is because the tower is down.

Millry Communications has informed us that a nearby cell tower is down, which is contributing to the disruption.

Our main LANDLINES are working currently. So please call our main line at 251-847-2223 and try to make those calls using another landline phone.

We appreciate your patience.

As part of National Rural Health Day, we are pleased to announce that we have earned the 2025 Performance Leadership Award in Patient Perspective. Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards recognize top quartile performance (i.e., 75th percentile or above) among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes, and/or Patient Perspective.

The Performance Leadership Awards program is based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, a comprehensive and objective framework for assessing how rural hospitals are performing. INDEX benchmarks are relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health to measure performance across multiple areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

“The areas of quality, outcomes and patient perspective are cornerstones of healthcare delivery across rural America, and this year’s Performance Leadership Award recipients are establishing a standard of excellence for their rural peers to follow,” said Michael Topchik, Executive Director, Chartis Center for Rural Health. “We are delighted to shine a spotlight on such strong performance and honor the achievement of these hospitals on National Rural Health Day.”

We are beyond grateful for this award and our patients and community that support us every day!

Celebrating the Power of Rural

At Washington County Hospital & Nursing Home, we believe there is something truly special about rural healthcare. It’s more than a location, it’s a calling, a commitment, and a promise to the people who make Washington County feel like home.

In rural communities like ours, hospitals serve a unique and vital role. We provide the same high-quality care you’d expect anywhere else, but with a personal touch that only a close-knit community can offer. The power of rural is found in the simple moments: a familiar smile greeting you at the door, a nurse who remembers your story, a provider who has cared for your family for generations, and a team that shows up not just because it’s their job, but because it’s their community.

Here in Washington County, our hospital is a:
-Lifeline in emergencies, providing critical care close to home
-Foundation of public health, promoting wellness and prevention
-Support system, walking alongside families during life’s toughest moments
-Major employer, strengthening our local economy and creating opportunities
-Community partner, investing in programs, education, and access to care

The Power of Rural means we don’t just treat patients, we care for neighbors, friends, and family members. It means going the extra mile because every mile matters in a rural county. It means resilience, teamwork, compassion, and a deep understanding of what our community needs to thrive.

We are proud to stand strong as WCHNH—proud of our mission, proud of our team, and proud to serve Washington County, AL with heart, skill, and unwavering dedication.

Thank you for trusting us. Thank you for supporting rural healthcare. And thank you for reminding us every day why the Power of Rural truly matters.
