🌿 The Story of Heritage Rocks

May is all about being slow and steady, getting back to your roots. Here at Heritage Adult Day Haven, we are starting “Heritage Rocks.”

Just like every family has a story—one shaped by faith, hope, tradition, and guidance passed quietly from one generation to the next, our Heritage Rocks were created to honor that story for our community. Each rock carries a symbol, and each symbol carries meaning rooted in who we are and where we come from.
Together, these five symbols tell the story of the legacy of Caring for our Community!

✝️ Cross with Roots — Faith
Faith is our foundation.
The cross with roots represents the spiritual grounding passed down through generations. Just as roots anchor a tree, faith anchors our community—holding us steady through seasons of growth, change, and challenge. It is the firm foundation upon which everything else is built.

☀️ Sunrays — Hope
Hope is what carries us forward.
The sunrays symbolize the promise that life and legacy continue from generation to generation. Like the rising sun, hope reminds us that each new day carries light, renewal, and the strength of those who came before us.

🌳 Tree with Exposed Roots — Heritage
Heritage is our strength.
The tree with exposed roots represents our ancestry, our history, and our generational strength. Visible roots remind us that our story did not begin with us—and it will not end with us. Our heritage feeds who we are and supports everything we grow into.

🫙 Mason Jar — Preserve
Tradition is meant to be kept.
The mason jar is a symbol of preservation—of memories, values, stories, and traditions. Just as a mason jar protects what’s inside, this symbol reminds us to intentionally preserve what matters most so it can be passed on with care and love.

🪶 Feather — Guidance
Guidance lights the way.
The feather represents the gentle guidance carried through tradition—the wisdom, lessons, and quiet direction given by those who walked before us. It reminds us that we are never walking alone and that the past continues to guide the path ahead.

🌿 A Legacy in Stone
Each Heritage Rock stands alone, yet together they tell a complete story: Faith. Hope. Heritage. Preservation. Guidance.
A story of roots that run deep and a legacy meant to be carried forward—one generation at a time.
These rocks along with others will be placed amongst the community. As you find yourself coming across one, take a picture and post here on our page with . Once you find one, place it in a different location. Let’s share the 5 symbols with everyone.
There will be others that do not have these symbols on them, but they are still part of our heritage because they were made personal for the one who created them.

Choosing care for a loved one is a big decision, and both private sitters and adult day programs offer valuable support.

Private sitters in Alabama earn an average of about $15.16 per hour, and national averages for adult sitters are around $16.60 per hour.

At Heritage Adult Day Haven, our mission is Caring for the Community by providing high‑quality care at an accessible cost. When broken down hourly, our rates come to:

•1 day/week: $75 → $8.82/hr
•2+ days/week: $65 → $7.65/hr
•Short days (4 hrs or less): $50 → $12.50/hr

We aren’t here to compete with private sitters—just to offer families another dependable, affordable option with structured activities, social engagement, a supportive environment and respite care for the Caregiver.

Friday saw the culmination of our Decade Celebration, an occasion characterized by immense enjoyment and merriment. Through concerted effort, participants successfully resolved eight puzzles covering various decades, thereby ensuring a victorious outcome. In conjunction with repairing the time rifts, the event incorporated a range of rejuvenating and dynamic team-building exercises.

The golfing experience has been outstanding, effectively teaching us valuable life skills such as patience, adaptability, discipline, strategy and many more. Through putting practice, we found that success requires dedication, but ultimately, everyone's efforts paid off. This activity has clearly been a highlight of our time together, filled with moments of collective laughter.
