FINE = "Feelings Inside Not Expressed." When someone you love is grieving, they might say everything is fine, but please take the extra effort to help them anyways. "Fine" is often far from it.

Last week we lost two amazing American writers.

Beverly Cleary, a beloved children's book author, sold over 91 million copies of her books and is considered one of America's most successful authors. Some of her most popular books are "Ramona the Pest," "Henry Huggins," and Newbery Medal-winner "Dear Mr. Henshaw." She told stories of the everyday kid, who wore their heart on their sleeve, who went on all-too-relatable childhood adventures. Her legacy will live on through her books and all those who gained hope and acceptance through reading them. Beverly Cleary died at the age of 104.

Larry McMurtry, a Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and Oscar-winning screenwriter spent his career writing about the Old West and his native-Texas. His best-known work is “Lonesome Dove,” a novel about cowboys, rangers, cattle drives, and more characters of the American West. His legacy will live on through his novels and the ability for his work to take you back to the West with each page turn. Larry McMurtry died at the age of 84.

“Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground. Let their spirit ignite a fire within you to leave this world better than when you found it...”

As a community, we have not been immune to grief the past year. Today, in the wake of the horrendous shooting in Boulder, Colorado, we grieve together across the nation. We are heartbroken for all those in Boulder.

We honor the ten lives lost, as we mourn with their families and friends. We recognize Officer Talley's heroism and grieve with the law enforcement community.

May they rest in peace.
