We are working hard to learn about the shoulder right now. Learning all the boney landmarks, the muscles and their actions, as well as to work this area if someone has problems. Once we get it down we will be ready to help you hopefully feel better!

Hope to see you in our clinic! (Disclaimer - we are booked for this semester. So we will see you in the spring!)

Good evening! The time is almost here to start booking appointments for massages! Please have your calendars ready. Make sure you are looking at our schedules and that you are sure that you can make it on time and early is even better so that the students can have time for their interview and still have the 60 minutes of hands on time for you. Remember that if you come in late you will get the remainder of your appointment time. The students will not be going over into their "between" appointment time.

We will start taking appointments on September 16th at 8:30 AM - no earlier. The students will answer the phones when they are available. As they are still learning - they will have times when you will have to leave a message due to them being on the tables learning techniques and flow.

Our appointments will be on Wednesday and Friday - starting October 1st. The week after that - we will be on Fall Break and will not have any appointments during that time. They will start up again October 15th and will continue until the week of Thanksgiving - which we will be closed for - and then will come back for the last week of the semester - which will be December 3rd and 5th. We will be taking appointments for Spring when we come back in January for the Spring semester.

You will not be able to schedule online - you will need to call in 423.697.5597, email us at tcatmassagetherapy@gmail.com, or request an appointment. If you know one of the students you may request them, but only twice during the fall semester, as the goal of clinic is to get their hands on as many different bodies as they can to further their learning.

BREAKING NEWS! TAX INFO!!!!

Massage Therapists Included in Tip Tax Break


The tip tax break is here! Over Labor Day weekend, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent made it official: Massage therapists, cosmetologists, barbers, hairstylists, estheticians, skin professionals, manicurists, and nail techs made the cut for a tax break on tips, starting this year.

Beginning with the taxes you file in 2026, you can deduct up to $25,000 in tips from your federal income tax. This means you take more money home for the next few years. The tax break isn’t forever, at least not yet. It is currently scheduled to phase out after 2028, but that could change if federal lawmakers decide to extend it.

We have been hearing about tax tip exemptions for years from both sides of the aisle. It is a universally popular measure with bipartisan support that many politicians made a cornerstone of their campaigns. The “how” was a major point of contention between parties, but now we have some answers.

Here's what you need to know about this tax break:
You still are required to report tipped income. The difference is that you can deduct it from your federal income tax.
It only applies to those of certain professions (you are included!) who make less than $150,000 per year or less than $300,000 per year filing jointly.
You still will pay Social Security and Medicare taxes on your tips.
If you make over $25,000 in tips in a tax year, anything over that threshold will be subject to federal tax.
If you hold multiple jobs that receive tipped income, your other job might not qualify for the tax break. Check the IRS and Treasury’s ruling in the Federal Register to make sure the jobs you have are eligible for the exemption.
What Happens Now?
There is a public comment period during which you can make your support for the provision known. The federal government will have an open period for public comments on the newly issued guidelines for the tax break before they can be made official. Continue recording your tipped income so you can report it in your annual taxes in 2026. Consult a tax professional to make sure you understand the right way to report and how this change could impact you and your family.

Keep an eye on your email for instructions from Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) on how to express your support and put your comments on the record for this historic change to federal tax policy. More money for our members? That’s something we can all get on board with.

Orientation for the Fall Massage Therapy 2025-2026 Cohort - Nested down! We had a great day learning about what is expected of us, what challenges we will have, and then experiencing some group cooperation, campus shenanigans, and meeting people that will help us be successful while here at Chatt State! Welcome back to TCAT 1! Can't wait for the first day of class - August 19th! Thank you Chattanooga State Goosechase helpers! It was a blast - and a great start to a fantastic year! What an awesome week! Yolaila Palacios,LMT and her model Blan Williams, LMT completed in Job Skill Demonstration Open at the National Leadership & Skills Conference for 2025.
It has been a week of heat and fun, rain and shine, learning and competing! I want to say that no matter what had happened I am proud of these two. I’m proud of how they were team players and also how they prepared to compete! It has been a great time for all and ended on a very high note! They won Silver!!! 🥈🇺🇸
