I’m constantly reminding families that children don’t need more toys, more screens, or more stimulation.

They need space to be present.

This moment—leaves placed carefully into an empty puffs container—is regulation, creativity, and joy happening in real time. 🌿

No agenda. No outcome. Just a child fully in her body, connected to her environment.

Unstructured outdoor play supports:
• emotional regulation
• attention and focus
• creativity and problem-solving
• nervous system health

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can give our kids… is less.

And the permission to simply be. 🤍

As we step into a new year, I love reminding families about something called the Fresh Start Effect 🌱

As an integrative medicine pediatrician, I see this all the time: when we mentally mark a new beginning—a new year, a new week, even a new morning—it creates a powerful sense of motivation. Our brains naturally let go of “what didn’t go well” and become more open to change.

Here’s the beautiful part: you don’t have to wait for January 1st.
Every day—every moment—is a fresh start.

Missed breakfast? Fresh start at lunch.
Rough morning with your kids? Fresh start at bedtime.
Fell off your routine yesterday? Fresh start right now.

For you and for your children, small resets matter:

* Choosing one nourishing meal today
* Stepping outside together for a few minutes of movement
* Taking a deep breath before responding instead of reacting
* Prioritizing sleep, even if it’s just 15 minutes earlier tonight

When kids see us practice self-compassion and begin again, they learn that health isn’t about perfection—it’s about consistency, resilience, and grace.

As we move into this new year, don’t focus on doing everything better. Focus on doing one small thing better—today. Then repeat tomorrow.

That’s how lasting health is built.
That’s how families thrive. ✨

🎉 Happy New Year! 🎉

As we welcome this fresh start, I find myself thinking about what matters most — love, connection, and care. I see every day how powerful these things are in helping children grow healthy and confident.

This year, I hope all families find new ways to show love — through patience, listening, shared laughter, and time together. The smallest gestures can make the biggest difference in a child’s heart. 💕

Here’s to a year filled with health, kindness, and love that keeps growing. 🌟

As parents, it’s easy to focus on what you think you’re missing… but I see every day how much love, effort, and intention you pour into your children. Progress doesn’t always feel loud or obvious—sometimes it’s in the small, consistent choices that build lifelong health.

Here are 3 simple, doable actions you can take today:

1. Protect the routine.
Stick to consistent sleep and meal rhythms—kids thrive when their bodies know what to expect.

2. Connect for 10.
Spend just 10 minutes of undistracted time with your child. No agenda. Just presence.

3. Choose one nourishing swap.
Add one whole food to a meal, step outside for sunlight, or replace a screen moment with a movement moment.

You’re showing up. You’re learning. You’re growing.
You’re doing great.

🍁 Happy Thanksgiving, Families! 🍁

As I reflect on this season of gratitude, I’m especially thankful for all of you. It is truly an honor to walk alongside your family, supporting your child’s health, growth, and wellbeing.

Thank you for trusting me, asking thoughtful questions, showing up with curiosity, and partnering with me in creating a foundation for your child’s best life. The work we do together—rooted in compassion, intention, and a true team approach—is what makes my job so meaningful.

I am grateful every day for the opportunity to care for your children, to witness their resilience, and to collaborate with parents who are so deeply committed to their wellness.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Thanksgiving filled with connection, rest, joy, and nourishment. 🍂🧡

With gratitude,
Dr. Litwin

Every day, families are exposed to small amounts of environmental toxins—through food, water, air, plastics, and even household habits. While we can’t eliminate everything, we can make simple, consistent changes that lower the overall toxic load on our kids’ developing bodies. 🌿

Use this toxin-load screen to check in with your home and choose 1–2 areas to start improving this week. Small steps add up!

✨ Simple Ways to Reduce Toxin Exposure

🌱 Choose organic when possible (especially the Dirty Dozen)
💧 Filter your water — look for filters that remove PFAS, lead, and pesticides
🍳 Switch from plastic & non-stick to glass, stainless steel, or cast iron
🪴 Add indoor plants like snake plant, pothos, or spider plant
👟 Adopt a “no shoes indoors” rule to reduce pesticides brought in from outside
🧹 Use safer cleaning products — avoid synthetic fragrances and harsh solvents
🔥 Skip microwaving in plastic—use glass or ceramic instead
🧖‍♀️ Support your body’s detox pathways with saunas, hydration, and fiber-rich foods

Your home doesn’t have to be perfect—just a little cleaner, safer, and more intentional. 💛 Every shift you make is a gift to your family’s long-term health.
