Main season peaches are here. We'll try keep them stocked at both stands throughout the summer. Sweet, juicy, and local. These guys will hold much longer than the early ones we've previously had this year!
Sweet corn, watermelon 🍉, cantaloupe, green beans, ananas and a few galia melons, cucumbers, summer squash, and flower jars are also available!

I have been using old lace tablecloths and concrete re-enforcing mesh in the garden to have a way to provide dappled shade for relief in extreme heat, slow down evaporation if I am going away for the weekend, and coverage from predicted hail storms. It is cheap, quick and versatile, and doesn't catch the wind or interfere with rain. I find them at garage sales and 2nd hand stores... or maybe your grandma has a couple. 🙂 Oh, and the re- enforcing mesh is used to keep the deer out of beds in the front garden. ALSO, easily washable... and that horrible garden fleece stuff is not.

high beds are very convenient, cucumbers grow well in them. If the climate is hot and dry, water a little more often.

Plastic crates (which may be milk crates or similar cargo containers) are creatively used to create portable plant beds. The crates are lined in long rows, and each crate is lined with a layer of dark gray geotextile or non-woven fabric. This fabric holds the soil while allowing water to drain away. On top of the fabric is loose potting soil, ready for sowing seeds or seedlings.

The trellis is a dome-shaped structure made of wire mesh, placed in a raised bed.
