Ronald Douglass “Doug” Matheny II was a loving husband, father, stepfather, Papa B, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He left this world and gained his heavenly wings on August 17, 2023 after a very short battle with cancer.

Doug was born on March 8, 1967 in Chattanooga, TN to Ronald and Vicki Matheny. He graduated from Tyner High School in 1985. Doug was the owner of Douglass Landscaping and took great pride in his work.

Doug loved to cook, spending time in the kitchen to create delicious meals for his family and friends. He was a huge Tennessee Volunteers fan - which created some fun family rivalries during the football season. Doug enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, and putting his toes in the sand at the beach. He was always looking for new restaurants to try and he never met a stranger. Most importantly, he loved with his whole heart.

He leaves behind his wife Barbara Matheny, his children Lena Kaddoura, Aiden Matheny, and Lola Matheny, stepdaughters Cassi (Dean) Burke and Cristi (Sean) Rance, grandchildren Brooklynn, Braden, Briley, Erik, and Ava, parents Ron (Hazel) Matheny and Vicki (Charles) Forgey, brother Scott (Angie) Matheny, nephew Jackson Matheny, and nieces Jordan and Morgan Matheny, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In accordance with his wishes, Doug will be cremated. His celebration of life will be on Saturday, September 2, from 12-3pm, at Lookout Valley Baptist Church in the fellowship hall. Please wear orange and bring your favorite “football” food. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lana’s Love, a charity that is very near to Doug’s heart. To donate online or get more information, please go to www.lanaslove.com.
