We hear these words nearly every day from our patients... "I really hate needles!"
That's code for: "I almost canceled my appointment because of the thought of getting stuck with that needle."
We get it! Fear of needles is real.
But if you have a suspicious skin lesion that needs to come off, you will need to have a local anesthetic (lidocaine) placed around the lesion before it's removed.
So, what can be done to get you over this hurdle?
Here's what we do:

1️⃣ We use the smallest needle made. The 2 needles in the picture are routinely used in our clinic. The pink is used to draw the lidocaine out of the bottle, the blue is used to place the lidocaine under the skin. Huge difference. That difference matters
2️⃣ Before I use that tiny needle, I use a short blast of freeze spray (liquid nitrogen).
3️⃣ Once the needle is in, I push in the lidocaine very slowly, which helps it to not sting.
4️⃣ I use a device called a shot blocker which is a small plastic piece that is placed on the skin. It is designed to stimulate surrounding nerves so a second stimulation (like putting the needle under the skin) is blunted. It works!
All these things are effective and more often than not, patients leave the clinic saying, "That was so easy, I was concerned about the needle and it was no big deal!"
Don't let your fear of needles keep you from getting something removed. Come in and talk to us, see the needle, get a free consultation. Schedule your appointment online at www.QuikSurg.com
