Tip Tuesday: Avoid rubbing your eyes. Use artificial tears, an allergy eye drop, or You apply a cold compress to soothe itching and irritation.

What can happen when you rub your eyes:

* Corneal damage: You can scratch the cornea or worsen conditions like keratoconus (where the cornea thins and bulges).

* Spread of germs: Your hands carry bacteria and viruses that can cause conjunctivitis (“pink eye”) and other infections.

*Dark circles & wrinkles: Frequent rubbing breaks delicate blood vessels under the skin, leading to dark circles and early wrinkles.

*Increased irritation: Rubbing may give momentary relief, but it releases histamines that actually make itching and redness worse.
