Save the date for our 8th annual Signal Centers Accessibility Awareness Summit! Join us May 21 in conjunction with Global Accessibility Awareness Day from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Wolford Family Athletics Center on UTC's campus.

This year’s theme, “Movement is Life,” reflects a simple truth: movement is fundamental to being human. Our health and well-being depend on our ability to move — physically through our environments, socially within our communities, and even virtually through technology that connects us to work, learning, and one another. When movement is limited, opportunity is limited. The summit celebrates how assistive technology restores and reimagines movement in all its forms, breaking down barriers in schools, workplaces, homes, and communities and helping build a world where everyone can participate fully.

Our next honoree for Black History Month is Dr. Saunja T. Burt, a trailblazing audiologist who’s opening doors and expanding representation in audiology. Dr. Burt, reportedly the first Black student to graduate from a four-year Au.D. program at Central Michigan University and a leader in hearing loss intervention, has spent her career mentoring students, advocating for early screening, and challenging misconceptions about hearing health. Her work helps ensure more families understand and access essential care.
