This week's is: I Spy: Car Edition!

To play this game, parents and children take turns describing or labeling things in or around the car that contain the child’s targeted sound. For example, if a child is working on the /r/ sound, he may say, “I spy something round and made of rubber.” The other players guess until someone discovers that the mystery word is “tire.” This game can be played to target both articulation and language goals.

This week's is with Tara Yelliott, Physical Therapist:

"I had a parent share with me that they were recently at a track meet and she watched her daughter go up and down stairs consistently without help which allowed her to keep up with the other children at the track meet! It makes me feel so good to hear that what we are working on in therapy translates positively to a family’s everyday life! Being a physical therapist for these children means thinking outside of the clinic and incorporating the family as much as possible."

This week's is: Pop the bubbles!

There are so many skills to target by using a bottle of bubbles with a wand. With this activity, you can target requesting, turn-taking, and imitating sounds/words. Practice saying or signing “open,” “more,” “bubble,” “pop,” “my turn,” “your turn,” and “ready, set, go!” Bubbles are so much fun and it’s an added bonus that they are their own incentive. Everyone loves instant gratification!
