Here's a thought: Stress does NOT cause physical symptoms.

Stress, however, causes EMOTIONS to rise (especially interpersonal stress) which, when routinely suppressed, causes our nervous systems to have no way to get our attention & protect us (the purpose of emotions...) except by activating physical symptoms.
